How and where to use guide
EDP PK06 2000 Plain Tile Flashing, al, incl BDX + BFX 94 X 118
Typical applications and suitability
This flashing is designed for VELUX roof window installations on pitched roofs covered with plain tiles. It provides the essential weather-tight interface between the window frame and the roof surface, preventing water ingress at this critical junction. The kit is equally suitable for new build projects and refurbishment work on existing properties. The aluminium construction ensures durability and corrosion resistance in typical UK roof conditions, making it a reliable choice for long-term performance.
- VELUX roof window installations on plain tile roofs
- Plain tiles up to 14mm thickness
- New build and refurbishment applications
- Pitched roof installations where weather-tight sealing is critical
Installation and component use
The EDP PK06 2000 kit includes both BDX and BFX components, which work together to create a complete flashing system around your VELUX window. The flashing dimensions of 940 × 1180mm are designed to accommodate standard window sizes and roof tile layouts. Ensure that your plain tiles do not exceed 14mm in thickness, as this is the maximum accommodation of the flashing profile. The aluminium components should be positioned to create a continuous weather-tight seal between the window frame and the surrounding roof surface, with all components properly integrated to prevent water penetration.
- Check that existing plain tiles are 14mm thick or less before installation
- Use both BDX and BFX components as supplied in the kit
- Position flashing to create continuous seal around window frame
- Ensure all components are properly seated and integrated
Weather-tightness and maintenance
The aluminium construction of this flashing provides excellent corrosion resistance and durability in UK weather conditions. Once installed, the flashing requires minimal maintenance. Periodically check that the seal remains intact and that no debris has accumulated around the window frame or flashing edges. The aluminium will naturally develop a patina over time but will not corrode. Ensure gutters and roof drainage remain clear to prevent water pooling around the flashing area.
- Aluminium resists corrosion in UK climate conditions
- Check flashing seal periodically for any gaps or damage
- Keep roof gutters and drainage clear around the window area
- Remove any debris that accumulates at the flashing edges
Limitations and important considerations
This flashing is specifically engineered for plain tile roofs and is not suitable for other roof coverings such as slate, concrete interlocking tiles, or sheet materials. The maximum tile thickness of 14mm is a critical specification; tiles thicker than this will not be properly accommodated by the flashing profile and may compromise the weather-tight seal. This product is designed as part of a complete VELUX daylight and ventilation solution, so ensure all components work together as an integrated system.
- Plain tile roofs only; not suitable for other roof coverings
- Maximum tile thickness 14mm; thicker tiles will not fit properly
- Part of a complete VELUX system; use with compatible components
- Verify tile thickness before ordering or installation
