How and where to use guide
VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows Pine 55x118cm GGL CK06 3070
Installation and positioning
Install this centre-pivot window in pitched roofs between rafters spaced to accommodate the 55cm width. The top control bar design allows you to position the window lower than traditional models while maintaining excellent sightlines from both standing and seated positions. Ensure the roof structure is adequately prepared with proper flashing and weatherproofing around the aperture. The pine frame requires standard carpentry fixings and should be secured to the rafter structure before fitting internal linings and external flashings. Plan your installation to allow the full 180-degree rotation for cleaning access.
- Position window to maximise natural light and views from typical seating heights
- Ensure adequate roof pitch and rafter spacing before ordering
- Allow clearance above the window for the top control bar operation
- Install flashing and weatherproofing before fitting the frame
Operation and ventilation
Open the top control bar to the ventilation position to allow fresh air circulation through a partially closed window, ideal for background ventilation without full opening. The centre-pivot mechanism allows smooth operation even with furniture positioned directly underneath, unlike traditional side-hung windows. The removable and cleanable ventilation filter protects your home from dust and insects during ventilation periods. Replace or clean this filter regularly depending on local air quality and usage patterns.
- Use ventilation position for continuous fresh air without full window opening
- Rotate 180 degrees for safe internal access to external glass for cleaning
- Clean or replace the ventilation filter regularly to maintain airflow
- Operate smoothly even with beds, desks or other furniture positioned below
Glazing and maintenance
The window comes standard with safety lamination, toughened glass, UV filter and integrated rain noise reduction, requiring minimal maintenance beyond regular cleaning. The 180-degree rotation feature allows you to safely clean the outer glass from inside without accessing the roof externally. Wipe the frame and glass regularly with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Check seals and weatherproofing annually, particularly after severe weather. The pre-fitted brackets allow quick and easy installation of optional blinds by simply clicking them into place.

- Wipe frames and glass with soft cloth and mild detergent regularly
- Check weatherproofing seals annually for signs of wear or damage
- Install optional blinds quickly using the pre-fitted click-in brackets
Limitations and on-site tips
This centre-pivot design is not suitable for installations where the window needs to open fully outward into a walkway or where external roof access is required during operation. The 55x118cm size is fixed and cannot be adjusted on site. Ensure adequate ventilation in the room as the window alone may not provide sufficient air changes for some applications. Plan blind and accessory installations before final decoration. The pine frame will require appropriate finishing or protection if exposed to weather during construction.
- Not suitable for locations where full outward opening into a walkway is needed
- Size is fixed at 55x118cm and cannot be modified on site
- Consider supplementary ventilation for rooms with high moisture or occupancy
- Protect the pine frame from weather exposure during construction phase
