How and where to use guide
VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows Pine 78x140cm GGL MK08 3070
Installation and positioning
Install this centre-pivot window on pitched roofs between rafters spaced to accommodate the 78x140cm frame. The top control bar design allows you to position the window lower than traditional models, giving excellent sightlines whether standing or seated. Ensure the roof structure is sound and properly flashed to prevent water ingress. The window operates from the top, so position it where you can comfortably reach the control bar. Pre-fitted brackets for blinds are already installed, allowing quick accessory attachment after installation.
- Suitable for standard rafter spacing compatible with MK08 sizing
- Lower installation position possible due to top control bar design
- Requires proper roof flashing and weatherproofing during installation
- Pre-fitted blind brackets ready for immediate accessory use
Operation and ventilation
Open the top control bar to the ventilation position to allow fresh air circulation through a closed window, ideal for moisture control and air quality without full opening. For complete ventilation or access, fully open the window using the top control mechanism. The centre-pivot design means the window rotates around its centre point, making it easy to operate even with furniture positioned directly underneath. This flexibility is particularly valuable in smaller rooms or where furniture placement is fixed.
- Use ventilation position for controlled fresh air without full opening
- Furniture can remain in place under the window during operation
- Centre-pivot rotation allows full 180-degree opening for access
Cleaning and maintenance
The 180-degree rotation capability is a key safety feature, allowing you to safely clean the outer glass surface from inside your home without needing external access equipment or scaffolding. Simply rotate the window fully to access both sides of the glass. The removable ventilation filter should be cleaned regularly to maintain airflow and protect your home from dust and insects. Check and clean the filter monthly, or more frequently in dusty environments or during high pollen seasons. The glazing features toughened glass and safety lamination as standard, requiring only regular cleaning with appropriate glass cleaner.
- Rotate 180 degrees to safely clean outer glass from inside
- Remove and clean ventilation filter monthly to maintain airflow
- Increase filter cleaning frequency in dusty or high-pollen areas
- Standard toughened and laminated glass requires only routine cleaning
Glazing features and limitations
The window comes standard with premium glazing including safety lamination, toughened glass, UV filter, and integrated rain noise reduction. These features provide security, thermal comfort, and reduced external noise. The UV filter helps protect furnishings from fading. However, this is a single roof window and should not be your only ventilation source in a room; ensure adequate background ventilation is provided through other means. The rain noise reduction is effective but not complete elimination. In very exposed locations with driving rain, consider additional weatherproofing measures.
- Safety lamination and toughened glass provide security and durability
- UV filter protects interior furnishings from sun damage
- Rain noise reduction integrated but not complete elimination
- Supplement with other ventilation sources for adequate air circulation
