How and where to use guide

VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows Pine 114x118cm GGL SK06 3070

Typical applications and positioning

Install this centre-pivot window in pitched roof spaces where natural light and ventilation are priorities. Common applications include loft bedrooms, attic home offices, studio spaces and converted roof voids. The top control bar design means you can position the window lower than traditional side-hung models, giving excellent views from seated positions and making the room feel more spacious. Ensure the window is installed square and level within the roof opening, with proper flashing and weatherproofing around the frame to prevent water ingress. The 114x118cm dimensions suit standard UK rafter spacing; always check your roof structure and building regulations compliance before installation.

  • Loft bedrooms and attic conversions where furniture sits beneath the window
  • Home offices and studios requiring natural light without tall obstructions
  • Rooms where seated sightlines and views are important
  • Installations requiring easy internal access for cleaning and maintenance

Operation and ventilation

The top control bar operates in two modes. For ventilation, open the control bar to the ventilation position to allow fresh air circulation through a closed window, protecting privacy and security while reducing condensation. For full opening, continue rotating the control bar to open the window fully. The innovative 180-degree rotation capability means you can safely clean the outer glass from inside without accessing the roof externally, a significant safety advantage. The removable and cleanable ventilation filter should be checked regularly and cleaned or replaced as needed to maintain airflow and protect your home from dust and insects.

  • Use ventilation position for fresh air without full opening
  • Rotate 180 degrees for safe internal cleaning of outer glass
  • Check and clean the ventilation filter regularly to maintain airflow
  • Operate smoothly even with furniture positioned directly below

Glazing performance and safety

The window comes fitted with premium glazing as standard, including safety lamination and toughened glass to meet UK safety standards. A UV filter reduces fading of furnishings and fabrics, whilst the unique rain noise reduction technology minimises sound during heavy rainfall, improving comfort in attic rooms. The combination of these features means you do not need to specify upgrades for basic performance; the window is ready to install and perform immediately.

  • Safety lamination and toughened glass for secure installation
  • UV filter protects interior furnishings from sun damage
  • Rain noise reduction technology for improved comfort
  • Premium features included as standard

Maintenance and blind installation

Routine maintenance is straightforward. Clean the frame and glass regularly using mild soap and water; avoid abrasive cleaners that may damage seals. The ventilation filter is removable for easy cleaning or replacement. Blinds can be quickly and easily added by clicking them into the pre-fitted brackets, allowing you to control light and privacy without additional fixings or tools. Check seals and flashing annually, particularly after severe weather, to ensure weatherproofing remains effective. On-site, protect the glazing during construction and keep the frame clear of dust and debris to prevent damage to operating mechanisms.

  • Clean frame and glass with mild soap and water regularly
  • Remove and clean the ventilation filter as needed
  • Add blinds by clicking into pre-fitted brackets
  • Inspect seals and flashing annually for weatherproofing integrity
