How and where to use guide
VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows White Painted 66x118cm GGL FK06 2070Q
Typical applications and installation
This roof window is designed for installation in pitched roofs where headroom and natural light are needed. It is particularly suited to loft conversions, attic bedrooms, home offices, and upper-floor living spaces. The 66x118cm (FK06) size fits standard rafter spacings in UK properties. Installation requires a suitable roof opening and flashing kit appropriate to your roof covering type. The window must be fitted by a competent installer following VELUX technical guidance to ensure proper weatherproofing and structural integrity. Ensure the roof structure can support the window weight and that adequate ventilation is maintained in the roof void.
- Loft conversions and attic rooms requiring natural light and security
- Upper-floor bedrooms and living spaces in converted properties
- Properties where external window cleaning access is difficult or unsafe
- Installations where burglary resistance is a security concern
- Spaces requiring controlled ventilation without full window opening
Operating and ventilation
The window is operated via a top control bar that can be positioned in multiple settings. For full opening, push the control bar outward to rotate the window on its centre pivot. For ventilation without full opening, position the control bar to the ventilation setting, which allows fresh air circulation while keeping the window largely closed. This is particularly useful in bedrooms or living areas where you want air flow but maintain security or weather protection. The removable and cleanable ventilation filter should be checked regularly and cleaned or replaced as needed to maintain airflow and protect against dust and insect ingress.
- Rotate window 180 degrees on centre pivot for safe external glass cleaning from inside
- Use ventilation position for fresh air without full opening
- Clean or replace ventilation filter regularly to maintain airflow
- Window can be opened and closed easily even with furniture positioned underneath
Security features and maintenance
The GGL Q model incorporates multiple security enhancements suitable for vulnerable positions. Integrated frame locks secure the window when closed, whilst extra-strong hinges and the centre-pivot mechanism resist forced entry. The laminated internal glazing and toughened external glazing work together to resist breakage and impact. These features make the window more resistant to burglary attempts than standard roof windows. Maintain security by ensuring locks are engaged when the window is closed, checking hinges and frame for damage, and keeping the glazing clean to monitor for cracks or damage. The laminated internal glazing will hold together if broken, reducing the risk of injury from glass fragments.
- Integrated frame locks must be engaged when window is closed
- Laminated internal glazing and toughened external glazing resist breakage
- Extra-strong hinges and centre-pivot design resist forced entry
- Inspect hinges and frame regularly for signs of damage or wear
- Monitor glazing for cracks or damage that may compromise security
Thermal performance and blind installation
The 2-layer glazing reduces heat loss through the window, improving thermal efficiency and indoor comfort in converted spaces. This is particularly important in loft rooms where roof exposure can lead to significant heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter. The window features pre-fitted brackets that allow blinds to be quickly and easily clicked into place, providing additional thermal control and light management without requiring separate installation hardware. Choose blinds appropriate to your needs: blackout blinds for bedrooms, thermal blinds for improved insulation, or roller blinds for general light control.

- Pre-fitted brackets allow quick blind installation by clicking into place
- Select blinds for thermal control, light management, or privacy as required
- Thermal blinds provide additional insulation benefit in exposed roof positions
