VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows White Painted 78x118cm GGL MK06 2070Q

Typical applications and installation

This centre-pivot roof window is designed for installation in pitched roofs where headroom and access are limited. It is commonly used in loft conversions, attic bedrooms, home offices, and upper-floor living spaces. The window must be installed in a roof pitch suitable for centre-pivot operation and requires proper flashing and weatherproofing around the aperture. Installation should be carried out by a qualified tradesperson to ensure the window is correctly sealed and secured to prevent water ingress and maintain the integrity of the burglary-resistant frame.

  • Loft conversions and attic rooms requiring natural light and ventilation
  • Properties where enhanced security against break-ins is a priority
  • Locations where safe internal access to external glass cleaning is essential
  • Pitched roof installations with adequate structural support

Operation and ventilation

The window operates via a top control bar that can be positioned in multiple settings. For full opening, push the control bar outward to rotate the sash 180 degrees around the centre pivot, allowing the window to open fully for maximum ventilation and emergency egress. For controlled ventilation without full opening, position the control bar to the ventilation setting, which allows fresh air to enter through a partially open window whilst maintaining security and weather protection. The removable and cleanable ventilation filter should be checked regularly and cleaned or replaced as needed to maintain airflow and protect against dust and insect ingress.

  • Push control bar outward for full 180-degree rotation and maximum ventilation
  • Use ventilation position for fresh air without full opening
  • Clean or replace the ventilation filter regularly to maintain airflow
  • Full rotation allows safe cleaning of external glass from inside the property

Security features and maintenance

The GGL Q model incorporates multiple security enhancements designed to resist forced entry. The integrated frame locks, extra-strong hinges, laminated internal glazing, and toughened external glazing work together to reinforce the window against breakage and unauthorised access. The laminated internal layer holds glass in place if the external pane is damaged, whilst the toughened external glazing resists impact. Maintenance is straightforward: keep the frame and hinges clean and free from debris, check that locks operate smoothly, and ensure the weatherseals remain intact. The 180-degree rotation feature allows you to clean both sides of the external glass safely from inside without accessing the roof.

  • Integrated frame locks and reinforced hinges provide burglary resistance
  • Laminated internal glazing and toughened external glazing resist breakage
  • Check locks and hinges regularly for smooth operation
  • Keep frame seals and weatherproofing in good condition
  • Use the 180-degree rotation to clean external glass safely from indoors

Thermal performance and blind installation

The 2-layer glazing system reduces heat loss through the window, improving thermal efficiency and indoor comfort in converted roof spaces. This is particularly important in loft conversions where roof insulation may be limited. The window features pre-fitted brackets that allow blinds to be quickly and easily clicked into place, providing additional thermal control and light management without requiring separate installation hardware. Ensure blinds are compatible with the bracket system and do not obstruct the ventilation filter or control bar operation.

  • 2-layer glazing reduces heat loss and improves thermal comfort
  • Pre-fitted brackets allow quick blind installation by clicking into place
  • Blinds provide additional light control and thermal insulation
  • Ensure blinds do not obstruct ventilation filter or control bar
