VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows White Painted 78x140cm GGL MK08 2066

Typical applications and positioning

The GGL MK08 is suited to loft conversions, attic bedrooms, home offices and any pitched roof space where headroom is limited. The top control bar design allows you to install the window at a lower position than traditional roof windows, giving excellent views whether standing or seated. This makes it particularly valuable in rooms where you want natural light and outlook without sacrificing usable floor space for furniture placement. The 78x140cm size fits standard UK rafter spacing and is suitable for single-window installations or as part of a multi-window arrangement.

  • Install at lower positions to maximise views from seated positions
  • Position away from direct summer sun exposure if the room tends to overheat
  • Ensure adequate roof structure and flashing support before installation
  • Allow clearance above the window for the top control bar operation

Operation and ventilation

The window operates via the top control bar, which can be opened to a ventilation position for fresh air circulation without fully opening the window. This allows you to maintain security and thermal control whilst still achieving air exchange. The centre-pivot mechanism means the window rotates 180 degrees around its centre point, allowing you to safely clean the outer glass from inside without accessing the roof. The white painted finish is durable and requires only standard cleaning.

  • Open the top control bar partially for ventilation without full window opening
  • Rotate the window 180 degrees for safe external glass cleaning from indoors
  • Operate smoothly even with furniture positioned directly underneath
  • Close fully to maintain weather-tightness and thermal performance

Glazing features and safety

The GGL MK08 comes with premium standard glazing that includes safety lamination, toughened glass, UV filtering, an antidew coating and integrated rain noise reduction. These features protect occupants, reduce condensation issues, minimise external noise from rainfall and provide easy-clean properties. The laminated and toughened glass construction meets UK safety standards for roof windows.

  • Safety lamination and toughened glass meet building regulations
  • UV filter reduces fading of furnishings and protects skin exposure
  • Antidew coating minimises internal condensation in humid conditions
  • Rain noise reduction provides improved acoustic comfort

Maintenance and cleaning

The removable and cleanable ventilation filter protects your home from dust and insects whilst allowing air circulation. This filter should be inspected regularly and cleaned or replaced as needed, particularly in dusty environments or during high pollen seasons. The easy-clean glazing coating reduces the frequency of window cleaning required. The white painted frame should be wiped down periodically with a soft cloth and mild detergent to maintain appearance.

  • Remove and clean the ventilation filter regularly to maintain airflow
  • Replace the filter if it becomes clogged or damaged
  • Use the 180-degree rotation feature to safely clean outer glass quarterly
  • Wipe the white painted frame with mild detergent and soft cloth as needed
  • Check seals and flashing annually for any signs of water ingress
