How and where to use guide
VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows White Painted 78x140cm GGL MK08 2070
Installation and positioning
Install this window in pitched roof applications where the top control bar can be easily reached from inside the room. The centre-pivot design means the window rotates on a central axis, so ensure adequate clearance above and to the sides for the sash to swing open fully. Position the window at a lower height than traditional top-hung models to achieve excellent sightlines whether standing or seated. The pre-fitted brackets for blinds are built in, so plan your interior layout accordingly. Ensure the roof structure and flashing are properly prepared before installation to prevent water ingress.
- Suitable for pitched roofs only
- Lower installation position improves views from seated positions
- Requires clear space above for sash rotation
- Pre-fitted blind brackets included for easy accessory installation
Operation and ventilation
Open the top control bar to the ventilation position to allow fresh air circulation through a partially closed window, ideal for background ventilation without fully opening the sash. For full opening, continue operating the control bar until the window reaches your desired angle. The centre-pivot mechanism allows you to rotate the entire sash 180 degrees, which is essential for safely cleaning the outer glass from inside without accessing the roof. This feature is particularly valuable for high-level installations or where external access is difficult or unsafe.
- Use ventilation position for fresh air without full opening
- Rotate 180 degrees for internal cleaning of outer glass
- Top control bar operation is smooth and requires minimal effort
- Furniture can remain positioned underneath during operation
Glazing and maintenance
The window comes with premium safety lamination and toughened glass as standard, providing enhanced security and impact resistance. A UV filter is integrated to reduce solar heat gain and protect interior furnishings from fading. The unique rain noise reduction feature minimises sound during heavy rainfall. A removable and cleanable ventilation filter protects your home from dust and insects whilst allowing air circulation; inspect and clean this filter regularly, particularly in dusty environments or during high pollen seasons. Clean the glass using standard window cleaning methods; the 180-degree rotation makes accessing the outer surface straightforward from inside.
- Safety lamination and toughened glass included as standard
- UV filter reduces heat gain and interior fading
- Rain noise reduction technology minimises rainfall sound
- Remove and clean ventilation filter regularly to maintain airflow
- Rotate sash 180 degrees for safe outer glass cleaning
On-site tips and limitations
This window is designed for pitched roof installations only and is not suitable for flat roofs or vertical walls. The white painted finish is durable but should be inspected annually for any paint wear, particularly in exposed coastal or industrial environments. Ensure the flashing and surrounding roof structure are maintained to prevent water ingress around the window frame. The centre-pivot mechanism is robust, but avoid forcing the control bar or sash if resistance is felt; check for obstructions or debris. In rooms with high humidity, such as bathrooms or kitchens, ensure the ventilation filter is cleaned more frequently and consider supplementary extraction to prevent condensation buildup.
- Pitched roof installation only; not suitable for flat roofs
- Inspect flashing and roof structure annually
- Clean ventilation filter more frequently in high-humidity rooms
- Do not force the control bar if resistance is encountered
- White painted finish benefits from annual inspection in exposed locations
