How and where to use guide

VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows White Painted 94x140cm GGL PK08 2062

Typical applications and positioning

Install this window in roof spaces where external noise is a concern, particularly bedrooms and quiet work areas. The 94x140cm dimensions fit standard rafter centres of 550mm to 900mm spacing. Position the window to maximise daylight whilst benefiting from the sound reduction properties. The top-operated design makes it suitable for rooms with limited floor space or where furniture placement is fixed, as you retain full window operation without obstruction.

  • Bedrooms in urban areas or near transport routes
  • Home offices requiring reduced external noise
  • Loft conversions with restricted floor space
  • Properties near airports, railways, or busy roads

Installation and operation

The window must be installed flush with the roof structure, following VELUX fitting guidelines for your specific rafter type and insulation depth. The top control bar operates the centre-pivot mechanism smoothly and intuitively. To open, simply push the control bar upwards; to close, pull downwards. The 180-degree rotation capability allows you to safely access and clean the external glass pane from inside the building without requiring external scaffolding or ladders. The removable ventilation filter should be checked monthly and cleaned or replaced as needed to maintain airflow and protect against dust and insect ingress.

  • Install according to VELUX instructions for your roof construction
  • Operate the top control bar smoothly to avoid jerking movements
  • Rotate fully 180 degrees for external glass cleaning access
  • Check and clean the ventilation filter monthly

Sound insulation performance and maintenance

The special sound-insulating glazing and extra acoustic insulation work together to reduce external noise transmission. Performance depends on correct installation with proper sealing around the frame and integration with roof insulation. Regular maintenance preserves the acoustic benefits: keep the frame clean and dry, ensure the ventilation filter remains unobstructed, and check that all seals remain intact. The window can be upgraded with a remote-controlled motor (mains or solar-powered) for added convenience, though manual top operation remains the standard.

  • Ensure proper frame sealing during installation for optimal noise reduction
  • Keep the frame and glazing clean to maintain acoustic performance
  • Replace the ventilation filter if it becomes heavily soiled
  • Consider a motorised upgrade for hands-free operation

Blinds and accessories

The window comes with pre-fitted brackets that accept VELUX blind systems. Blinds can be quickly and easily clicked into position without additional fixings or tools. This allows you to add blackout, roller, or pleated blinds to suit your requirements for light control and privacy. The modern, elegant top control bar design complements contemporary and traditional roof spaces alike.

  • Use VELUX-compatible blinds that click into pre-fitted brackets
  • Choose blackout blinds for bedrooms requiring complete darkness
  • Install blinds after the window is fully operational and sealed
