How and where to use guide

VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows White Painted 94x160cm GGL PK10 2066

Typical applications and positioning

Centre-pivot roof windows work well in loft conversions, attic bedrooms, home offices and living spaces where you want natural light without sacrificing wall space for furniture. The top control bar design means you can position the window lower on the roof slope than traditional windows, giving excellent sightlines whether standing or seated. The 94x160cm dimensions fit standard rafter widths. Avoid positioning directly above work surfaces or seating where rain ingress during operation could cause problems.

  • Loft bedrooms and living spaces where furniture placement is important
  • Rooms where lower window positioning improves views
  • Pitched roofs with standard rafter spacing matching 94x160cm opening size
  • Spaces requiring both daylight and ventilation control

Operation and ventilation

The window opens and closes smoothly via the top control bar, which can be positioned at a ventilation setting to allow fresh air circulation through a closed window. This is useful for background ventilation without fully opening the sash. The centre-pivot design means the window rotates 180 degrees, allowing you to safely clean the outer glass from inside without accessing the roof. Even with furniture positioned directly underneath, the window operates without obstruction.

  • Use the ventilation position on the top control bar for fresh air without full opening
  • Rotate the window 180 degrees for safe external glass cleaning from indoors
  • Operate freely with furniture underneath – no clearance issues
  • Close fully to seal the window when not in use

Glazing features and maintenance

The window comes with premium glazing as standard, including safety lamination, toughened glass, UV filter, and rain noise reduction. The glass has an easy-clean coating and anti-dew properties. A removable and cleanable ventilation filter protects against dust and insects during ventilation. Clean the filter regularly to maintain airflow and prevent blockages. The easy-clean glass coating reduces the need for frequent cleaning but should be wiped periodically to remove dust and debris.

  • Remove and clean the ventilation filter regularly to maintain airflow
  • Wipe the easy-clean glass coating with a soft cloth and water
  • Check that the filter is properly reinstalled after cleaning
  • Inspect the glazing seal annually for any signs of condensation or damage

Installation and on-site tips

Ensure the roof opening matches the 94x160cm window dimensions and that rafters are spaced correctly. Install the window square and level within the opening, following VELUX installation instructions. The white painted finish suits most interior schemes. Blinds can be quickly added by clicking them into pre-fitted channels, allowing you to control light and privacy after installation. Ensure adequate roof ventilation around the window to prevent condensation issues in the loft space.

  • Verify roof opening dimensions match 94x160cm before ordering
  • Install level and square – use a spirit level during fitting
  • Ensure roof ventilation is adequate to prevent condensation
  • Blinds attach via pre-fitted channels for quick installation
  • White painted finish integrates with most interior decorating schemes
