VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows White Painted 134x98cm GGL UK04 2070

Typical applications and installation

Install this window in pitched roof openings where you need flexible operation and good natural light. The centre-pivot design makes it particularly suitable for bedrooms, home offices and living spaces in loft conversions where you want to position furniture directly below the window. The window operates smoothly even with wardrobes, desks or beds positioned underneath, unlike traditional top-hung or side-hung alternatives. Ensure the roof opening matches the UK04 size specification (134x98cm) and that the surrounding roof structure is adequately prepared with appropriate flashing and insulation before installation.

  • Loft bedrooms and attic conversions where floor space is limited
  • Upper rooms requiring natural ventilation without full window opening
  • Spaces where furniture placement directly below the window is planned
  • Rooms where seated or standing sightlines are important

Operating the window safely and effectively

The top control bar is your primary operating mechanism. Push the bar downward to open the window gradually, allowing you to control the opening angle from fully closed through to full 180-degree rotation. For ventilation without opening the window fully, tilt the top control bar to the ventilation position, which allows fresh air circulation while maintaining security and weather protection. The 180-degree rotation capability is particularly useful for external glass cleaning: simply rotate the sash fully to access the outer surface safely from inside the room. Always ensure the control bar moves smoothly and check that the window closes completely and securely after each use.

  • Use the top control bar to adjust opening angle gradually
  • Engage ventilation position for fresh air without full opening
  • Rotate 180 degrees for safe internal access to outer glass surfaces
  • Verify secure closure after each operation

Glazing features and maintenance

The window comes fitted with premium safety lamination and toughened glass as standard, providing enhanced security and impact resistance. A UV filter is integrated into the glazing to reduce solar heat gain and protect interior furnishings from fading. The unique rain noise reduction feature minimises sound transmission during heavy rainfall, improving comfort in upper-floor rooms. A removable and cleanable ventilation filter protects your home from dust and insects while allowing air circulation; check and clean this filter regularly, particularly during high pollen seasons or if you notice reduced ventilation performance. Clean the glass using standard window cleaning methods; the 180-degree rotation makes accessing external surfaces straightforward without requiring external scaffolding or ladders.

  • Safety lamination and toughened glass provide security and durability
  • UV filter reduces heat gain and interior fading
  • Rain noise reduction improves comfort during wet weather
  • Remove and clean the ventilation filter regularly to maintain airflow
  • Use 180-degree rotation for safe internal glass cleaning

Blind installation and limitations

The window comes with pre-fitted brackets that allow you to quickly and easily click blinds into place without additional fixings or tools. This makes it simple to add solar control, privacy or blackout solutions to suit your room requirements. However, note that the centre-pivot mechanism requires adequate clearance above and below the window during operation; ensure no permanent fixtures or shelving obstruct the sash rotation path. The window is designed for pitched roof installation only and should not be used in flat roof applications. Avoid placing heavy or fragile items on the window sill, as the rotating mechanism requires unobstructed movement.

  • Pre-fitted brackets allow quick blind installation without additional fixings
  • Maintain clear space above and below for full sash rotation
  • Suitable for pitched roofs only, not flat roof applications
  • Keep the window sill clear of obstructions and heavy items
