VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows White Painted 134x98cm GGL UK04 2070Q

Typical applications and installation

This roof window is designed for installation in pitched roofs where headroom is limited or where a top-operated control is preferred. It is particularly suited to loft conversions, attic bedrooms, home offices, and studio spaces. The 134x98cm size (UK04) fits standard rafter spacings and is compatible with most pitched roof constructions. Installation should be carried out by a qualified tradesperson in accordance with building regulations and the manufacturer's installation instructions. Ensure the window opening is correctly sized and that adequate flashing and weatherproofing measures are in place to prevent water ingress.

  • Loft conversions and attic rooms requiring natural light and ventilation
  • Properties where enhanced security against break-ins is a priority
  • Spaces with limited headroom where top-operated control is advantageous
  • Applications requiring safe internal access for external glass cleaning

Operation and ventilation

The window is operated via a top control bar that can be positioned to open the window fully or set to a ventilation position, allowing fresh air circulation through a partially closed window. This dual-position operation is useful for maintaining security while providing air flow in occupied spaces. The centre-pivot design allows the entire window to rotate 180 degrees, enabling you to safely clean the outer glass surface from inside without requiring external access or scaffolding. The removable and cleanable ventilation filter protects your home from dust and insects whilst the window is in ventilation mode, and should be checked and cleaned regularly to maintain airflow efficiency.

  • Operate the top control bar to full open or ventilation position as required
  • Rotate the window 180 degrees for safe internal cleaning of external glass
  • Use ventilation position to maintain air quality without full opening
  • Check and clean the removable ventilation filter regularly for optimal performance

Security features and maintenance

The GGL Q model incorporates multiple security enhancements: integrated frame locks prevent unauthorised opening, extra-strong hinges resist forced entry, laminated internal glazing resists impact and breakage, and toughened external glazing provides additional durability. These features work together to create a burglary-resistant window suitable for vulnerable locations. Maintenance is straightforward: clean the glass regularly using standard window cleaning methods, ensure the frame locks operate smoothly, and inspect hinges and seals annually for signs of wear. The laminated internal glazing should be cleaned with a soft cloth to avoid scratching. Do not attempt to force the window open or closed; if resistance is felt, check for obstructions or contact a qualified technician.

  • Integrated frame locks and reinforced hinges provide burglary resistance
  • Laminated internal and toughened external glazing resist impact and breakage
  • Clean glass regularly with soft cloth and standard window cleaning products
  • Inspect locks, hinges, and seals annually for wear or damage
  • Do not force the window if resistance is encountered during operation

Thermal performance and blind installation

The 2-layer glazing system reduces heat loss through the window, improving thermal efficiency and indoor comfort in converted roof spaces. This is particularly important in loft rooms where temperature regulation can be challenging. The window features pre-fitted brackets that allow blinds to be quickly and easily clicked into place, providing light control and additional thermal insulation when required. Ensure blinds are compatible with the window size and mechanism before installation. The combination of efficient glazing and controllable blinds helps maintain consistent room temperature and reduces heating costs in upper-floor spaces.

  • 2-layer glazing reduces heat loss and improves thermal comfort
  • Pre-fitted brackets allow quick blind installation by clicking into place
  • Use blinds to provide additional light control and thermal insulation
  • Ensure blind compatibility with window size before installation
