How and where to use guide

VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows White Painted 134x140cm GGL UK08 2070

Typical applications and positioning

Install this centre-pivot window in pitched roof spaces, loft conversions and attic bedrooms where headroom is limited. The innovative top control bar allows you to position the window lower than traditional roof windows, enabling excellent views whether standing or seated. This makes it particularly suitable for bedrooms, home offices and living spaces in upper storeys. The 134x140cm size (UK08) fits standard rafter spacings and suits most domestic roof pitches.

  • Loft conversions and attic room conversions
  • Upper-floor bedrooms and living spaces
  • Rooms where furniture will be positioned directly below the window
  • Properties requiring lower window positioning for seated views

Operation and daily use

The centre-pivot mechanism allows the sash to rotate 180 degrees for cleaning and maintenance. Open the top control bar to the ventilation position to allow fresh air circulation through a closed window, providing security and weather protection whilst maintaining airflow. The window opens and closes smoothly even when furniture is placed underneath, as the pivot point is at the window's centre rather than at the base. The removable and cleanable ventilation filter should be checked regularly and cleaned or replaced as needed to maintain airflow and protect against dust and insect ingress.

  • Operate the top control bar smoothly to avoid sudden movement
  • Use the ventilation position for background fresh air without full opening
  • Rotate 180 degrees carefully for external glass cleaning from inside
  • Check and clean the ventilation filter monthly in dusty environments
  • Ensure furniture placement does not obstruct the window's rotation path

Safety features and glazing

The window comes standard with safety lamination and toughened glass, providing impact resistance and security. The glazing includes a UV filter to reduce sun damage to furnishings and interiors, and incorporates unique rain noise reduction technology to minimise external weather noise transmission. These features are factory-fitted and require no additional specification or installation steps.

  • Safety lamination and toughened glass are pre-installed
  • UV filtering reduces fading of interior furnishings
  • Rain noise reduction technology minimises external weather sound
  • No additional glazing upgrades required for standard specification

Maintenance and on-site tips

The white painted finish requires occasional cleaning with mild soap and water to maintain appearance. The removable ventilation filter can be taken out and cleaned or replaced without tools. Blinds can be quickly installed by clicking them into the pre-fitted brackets, allowing flexible light and privacy control. Ensure the pivot mechanism is kept free from debris and the control bar operates smoothly. On-site, protect the glazing during construction and allow adequate working space around the window during installation to accommodate the 180-degree rotation.

  • Clean white painted frame with mild soap and soft cloth
  • Remove and clean ventilation filter regularly to maintain airflow
  • Keep the pivot mechanism free from dust and building debris
  • Test smooth operation of the control bar before handover
  • Allow clear space around the window for safe 180-degree rotation during use
