How and where to use guide
VELUX GGL SK08 2070 C/P WHITE PAINTED
Typical applications and positioning
Install the GGL SK08 2070 in pitched roof spaces including loft conversions, attic bedrooms, home offices and studio spaces. The top control bar design allows you to position the window lower than traditional roof windows, enabling excellent sightlines whether standing or seated. This makes it particularly suitable for rooms where you want to maximise views without compromising furniture layout. The centre-pivot mechanism works best in roof pitches between 15 and 90 degrees. Always follow VELUX installation guidelines for flashing and weatherproofing to prevent water ingress.
- Loft conversions and attic bedrooms
- Home offices and creative studios
- Rooms with limited wall space for conventional windows
- Properties where furniture placement beneath the window is essential
Operation and ventilation
The top control bar provides two distinct operating positions. For ventilation, open the control bar to the ventilation position to allow fresh air circulation through a closed window, protecting privacy and security whilst maintaining airflow. For full opening, continue rotating the control bar to fully open the window. The unique 180-degree rotation capability allows you to safely clean the outer glass from inside the room without accessing the roof externally. The removable and cleanable ventilation filter should be checked regularly and cleaned or replaced as needed to maintain dust and insect protection whilst preserving ventilation efficiency.
- Ventilation position: open control bar partially for fresh air without full opening
- Full opening: rotate control bar fully for maximum ventilation and light
- 180-degree rotation: safely access outer glass for internal cleaning
- Check and clean ventilation filter regularly to maintain airflow
Glazing features and safety
The window comes standard with premium glazing including safety lamination, toughened glass, UV filter and integrated rain noise reduction. The laminated and toughened glass combination provides enhanced safety in case of breakage, whilst the UV filter protects interior furnishings from sun damage. The rain noise reduction feature is particularly valuable in exposed locations or during heavy rainfall. These features require no maintenance but ensure long-term performance and occupant safety.
- Safety lamination and toughened glass for enhanced impact resistance
- UV filter reduces fading of interior furnishings and fabrics
- Rain noise reduction minimises sound transmission during wet weather
- No special cleaning products required; use standard glass cleaner
Blind installation and maintenance
The window features pre-fitted brackets that allow quick and easy blind installation by simply clicking blinds into place. This modular approach means you can add or upgrade blinds without tools or additional fixings. Regular maintenance involves cleaning the glass using standard glass cleaner and checking the control bar mechanism for smooth operation. Ensure the ventilation filter is accessible and clean it every three to six months depending on local dust levels and air quality. The centre-pivot design means all moving parts remain accessible from inside the room, eliminating the need for external maintenance access.
- Blinds click directly into pre-fitted brackets for tool-free installation
- Clean glass with standard glass cleaner and soft cloth
- Check control bar operates smoothly; lubricate sparingly if needed
- Clean ventilation filter every three to six months or as required
