How and where to use guide
GGL SK10 2070 Centre pivot,manual,white paint,double glazed 70Pane,114x160
Installation and positioning
Install this centre-pivot window in pitched roof applications where headroom is limited or where you plan to position furniture, shelving or beds directly below. The top control bar operation means the window can be fitted lower than traditional roof windows, allowing seated views and easier access. Ensure the roof structure is sound and properly flashed to prevent water ingress. The window requires adequate rafter spacing to accommodate the 114cm width and 160cm height. Position the window to maximise south or east-facing light while considering summer heat gain and winter heat loss through the double glazing.
- Suitable for loft conversions, attic bedrooms and home offices
- Can be installed lower than side-hung alternatives due to top control operation
- Requires standard roof flashing kit for weatherproofing
- Double glazing provides thermal and acoustic insulation
Operation and ventilation
Open the top control bar to the ventilation position to allow fresh air circulation while keeping the window closed, ideal for moisture control in bedrooms and bathrooms. For full opening, push the control bar upwards to rotate the sash 180 degrees on its centre pivot. This full rotation capability is particularly useful in loft spaces where access to the outer glass would otherwise be difficult. The manual operation requires no electricity, making it reliable in all conditions. The removable ventilation filter should be checked regularly and cleaned to maintain airflow and protect against dust and insect ingress.
- Ventilation position allows air flow without full opening
- 180-degree rotation enables safe cleaning of exterior glass from inside
- Manual top control bar operation – no power required
- Clean or replace ventilation filter regularly for optimal performance
Glazing and safety features
The double glazing incorporates safety lamination and toughened glass as standard, meeting UK building regulations for roof windows. The laminated inner pane prevents glass fragments scattering if broken, whilst the toughened outer pane resists thermal stress and impact. A built-in UV filter reduces fading of furnishings and protects against harmful rays. The glazing also features noise reduction technology to minimise rain noise during heavy weather, improving comfort in attic rooms. These features require no maintenance but ensure long-term safety and performance.
- Safety lamination and toughened glass meet building regulations
- UV filter protects furnishings and occupants
- Rain noise reduction improves comfort in exposed locations
- Double glazing reduces heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer
Maintenance and blind compatibility
The white painted finish requires occasional cleaning with a soft cloth and mild detergent to maintain appearance. The removable ventilation filter can be taken out and washed under running water, then replaced when dry. Blinds can be quickly installed using the pre-fitted brackets inside the frame – simply click compatible VELUX blinds into position without additional fixings. Check the control bar mechanism annually and apply light silicone lubricant if operation becomes stiff. Ensure the roof flashing remains sealed and clear of debris to prevent water ingress.
- Clean white paint finish with soft cloth and mild detergent
- Ventilation filter is removable and washable
- Pre-fitted brackets allow quick blind installation
- Inspect roof flashing annually for weatherproofing integrity
