VELUX Twin and Combination Flashings 55x78cm EBW CK02 0021B

Suitable applications and roof types

These flashings are engineered for pitched roofs on timber-framed buildings with either timber-framed (EPB) or solid roof construction. The 55x78cm size and combination design make them versatile across different roof configurations. Maximum roof length accommodation is 8m in a single application, making them suitable for standard domestic pitched roof installations. Always verify your specific roof construction type before ordering to ensure compatibility.

  • Timber-framed pitched roofs with timber-framed construction
  • Solid roof construction on timber-framed buildings
  • Roof lengths up to 8m maximum
  • Standard domestic pitched roof penetrations
  • Combination design suits multiple roof configurations

Installation and positioning

Position the flashing around the roof penetration before securing. The ethylene butadiene styrene (EBS) material with black paint finish provides durability in exposed conditions. Ensure the flashing sits flush against the roof surface and overlaps correctly with roof coverings to direct water away from the penetration point. Work from the bottom of the roof upwards when installing multiple flashings. Allow adequate overlap with slates, tiles or other roof coverings to prevent water ingress.

  • Install from bottom to top of roof slope
  • Ensure complete overlap with roof covering
  • Position flashing to direct water away from penetration
  • Secure firmly to prevent movement in wind
  • Check for gaps or misalignment before final fixing

Material durability and maintenance

The EBS material with black paint finish is formulated to withstand exposed roof conditions and UV exposure. Inspect flashings annually, particularly after severe weather, to check for any paint damage or material degradation. Clear debris such as moss, leaves and dirt from around the flashing to maintain water drainage. Touch up any paint damage promptly to prevent material deterioration. The durable construction means these flashings require minimal maintenance when properly installed.

  • Inspect annually for paint damage or wear
  • Clear debris and moss from flashing edges
  • Touch up paint damage to prevent material degradation
  • Check seals and overlaps remain intact
  • Replace if material becomes brittle or cracks develop

On-site tips and limitations

The combination design reduces the number of different flashing types needed on site, simplifying logistics and reducing waste. However, these flashings are sized specifically at 55x78cm, so verify this matches your roof penetration dimensions before purchase. The maximum 8m roof length accommodation means larger roofs may require multiple flashing installations. Store flashings flat and protected from direct sunlight before installation to prevent paint damage. Ensure adequate ventilation around the flashing to prevent condensation buildup.

  • Verify 55x78cm size suits your roof penetration
  • Roofs exceeding 8m may require multiple flashings
  • Store flat and protected from UV before installation
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around penetration
  • Combination design minimises on-site stock requirements
