VELUX Recessed Flashings 114x118cm EDJ SK06 0000

Where to use this product

This recessed flashing is specifically designed for use with VELUX SK06 roof window systems installed in pitched roofs. It is suitable for both new build construction and refurbishment projects where you are installing or replacing a roof window. The profiled tile design means it works best with standard pitched roof coverings where it will blend visually with your existing tiles. The flashing dimensions of 1140 × 1180mm (114 × 118cm) are matched to the SK06 window size, so it must only be used with compatible VELUX SK06 systems.

  • New build pitched roof installations with SK06 roof windows
  • Refurbishment and replacement projects on existing pitched roofs
  • Roofs with standard tile coverings where visual consistency is required
  • UK domestic and light commercial properties

Installation and application

The recessed flashing must be installed as part of the complete SK06 roof window installation process. The flashing sits around the window frame and integrates with your roof covering, creating a weather-tight seal. The profiled tile design of the aluminium surround is engineered to work with standard roof tiles, ensuring water runs off cleanly and does not pool around the window. Installation should follow VELUX guidance for SK06 systems, ensuring the flashing is correctly positioned and secured before roof tiles are laid or replaced around it. Careful attention to the flashing installation is critical to prevent water penetration at the roof line.

  • Install as part of the complete SK06 roof window system
  • Position the flashing around the window frame before laying roof tiles
  • Ensure the profiled tile design aligns with your existing roof covering
  • Follow VELUX installation instructions for SK06 compatibility
  • Check that all seals are weather-tight before completing roof work

Maintenance and on-site tips

Once installed, the aluminium flashing requires minimal maintenance but should be inspected periodically to ensure it remains weather-tight and free from debris. After installation, check that roof tiles sit neatly against the profiled design and that no gaps have formed. In areas with heavy leaf fall or moss growth, keep the flashing and surrounding roof clear of debris to maintain proper water drainage. The aluminium construction is durable in UK weather conditions, but any visible damage or gaps should be addressed promptly to prevent water ingress. Store the flashing flat and protected from damage before installation.

  • Inspect the flashing annually to ensure weather-tight seal is intact
  • Clear debris and moss from around the flashing to maintain drainage
  • Check that roof tiles remain flush against the profiled design
  • Address any gaps or damage immediately to prevent water penetration
  • Store flat and protected from weather and physical damage before use
