How and where to use guide
VELUX Standard Flashings 94x140cm EDL PK08 0000
Where to use this flashing
Install this flashing on pitched roofs with a maximum pitch of 30 degrees where you are fitting a PK08 VELUX skylight. The flashing sits between the skylight frame and the roof structure, creating a weather-tight seal that prevents water ingress around the skylight opening. It is suitable for use on both residential and commercial roof installations where pitched roof angles do not exceed 30 degrees.
- Pitched roofs up to 30 degrees maximum
- PK08 VELUX skylight installations
- Residential and commercial applications
- Roofs with standard rafter spacing
Installation and application
Position the flashing around the skylight opening before securing the skylight frame to the roof structure. The flashing must be fitted to create a continuous weather-tight seal, with careful attention to overlapping roof coverings above and below the skylight. Ensure the flashing sits flush against the roof surface and the skylight frame. Secure the flashing according to VELUX installation instructions, using appropriate fixings for your roof type. The 25mm thickness provides sufficient material for robust fixing without splitting.
- Install flashing before securing skylight frame
- Ensure weather-tight seal around entire opening
- Overlap roof coverings correctly above and below
- Use appropriate fixings for your roof material
- Check flashing sits flush on all sides
Material and durability
Grade A timber construction resists rot and insect damage, providing long-term durability in exposed roof conditions. The EDL finish is applied to protect the timber surface, though this may affect the appearance compared to untreated timber. The 25mm thickness ensures the flashing will not warp or flex excessively during installation or under normal roof loading.
- Grade A timber resists rot and insect damage
- EDL finish provides weather protection
- 25mm thickness prevents warping
- Durable for the life of the skylight installation
Limitations and roof pitch
This flashing is designed for roofs with a pitch of up to 30 degrees. Do not use on steeper pitched roofs, as the flashing may not provide an adequate weather-tight seal and water could penetrate around the skylight. If your roof pitch exceeds 30 degrees, consult VELUX for alternative flashing options suitable for steeper pitches.
- Maximum roof pitch 30 degrees
- Not suitable for steeper pitched roofs
- Verify roof pitch before installation
- Contact VELUX for steeper pitch alternatives
