How and where to use guide
VELUX Standard Flashings 55x78cm EDP CK02 0000
Suitable applications and roof types
This flashing is designed for use with VELUX CK02 roof windows only and is suitable for pitched roofs constructed with tiles, slates, or similar pitched roof coverings. The flashing accommodates roof pitches up to a maximum of 55 degrees. It is not suitable for flat roofs, roofs exceeding 55 degrees pitch, or windows other than the CK02 size. Typical applications include loft conversions, attic rooms, and roof extensions where a CK02 window is being integrated into an existing or new pitched roof structure.
- CK02 roof windows only
- Pitched roofs up to 55 degrees maximum
- Tiled, slated, or similar pitched roof surfaces
- Loft conversions and attic installations
Installation and alignment
Correct installation is critical for weathertightness. The flashing must be carefully aligned with your roof tiles or slates to ensure proper water run-off away from the window frame. The flashing integrates the window frame directly into your roof structure, so positioning must be precise before securing. Work from the bottom of the roof upwards, ensuring that roof tiles or slates overlap the flashing correctly to direct water down and away. The aluminium construction allows for careful bending and adjustment on site if required, but this should be done before final fixing to avoid damage.
- Align flashing carefully with roof tiles or slates
- Install from bottom of roof upwards for correct water run-off
- Ensure tiles or slates overlap flashing properly
- Secure firmly once alignment is confirmed
- Avoid bending or adjusting after final fixing
Maintenance and durability
The aluminium construction of this flashing offers excellent durability and requires minimal maintenance. Periodically inspect the flashing and surrounding roof area to ensure tiles or slates remain properly seated and that no debris is blocking water run-off channels. Check that the seal remains intact and that no water staining or damp is visible inside the room below the window. In areas with heavy rainfall or coastal exposure, more frequent inspection is advisable. The aluminium will develop a natural patina over time but will not corrode or require protective coating.
- Inspect periodically for proper tile or slate seating
- Clear debris from around the flashing
- Check interior for signs of water ingress or damp
- More frequent checks recommended in high-rainfall areas
- Aluminium requires no protective coating or treatment
Important limitations and safety
Do not use this flashing on roofs exceeding 55 degrees pitch, as water run-off performance cannot be guaranteed. Do not attempt to use this flashing with roof window sizes other than CK02, as it will not provide a proper seal. Roof work should be carried out safely using appropriate access equipment and fall protection. If you are unfamiliar with roof installation, consider engaging a qualified roofer or surveyor to ensure the flashing is installed correctly and your roof remains weathertight.
- Maximum roof pitch 55 degrees only
- CK02 windows only - do not use with other sizes
- Use appropriate access and fall protection equipment
- Consider professional installation if inexperienced
