How and where to use guide

VELUX Standard Flashings 55x118cm EDP CK06 0000

Suitable applications and roof types

This flashing is designed specifically for CK06 roof windows installed on pitched roofs. It works with standard roof coverings including clay tiles, concrete tiles, and natural slate. The flashing is rated for roof pitches up to 55°, making it suitable for most domestic pitched roof installations. Do not use this flashing on flat roofs, curved roofs, or pitches exceeding 55°, as weathertightness cannot be guaranteed outside these parameters.

  • CK06 roof windows only
  • Pitched roofs up to 55° pitch
  • Compatible with tiles and slate
  • Not suitable for flat or curved roofs

Installation and alignment

Correct installation is critical for weathertightness. The flashing must be positioned so that the upper edge sits beneath the roof covering above the window, allowing water to run down over the flashing rather than behind it. The lower edge should sit on top of the roof covering below the window. Careful alignment with your roof tiles or slates ensures proper water run-off. The 55×118cm dimensions are designed for precise fit with the CK06 window frame. All edges must be sealed and secured according to VELUX installation instructions to prevent water penetration at the junction.

  • Position upper edge beneath roof covering above window
  • Position lower edge on top of roof covering below window
  • Align carefully with roof tiles or slates
  • Secure all edges and seal according to instructions
  • Ensure proper water run-off gradient

Material durability and maintenance

The aluminium construction provides excellent durability and natural corrosion resistance, making it suitable for long-term outdoor exposure. Aluminium requires minimal maintenance compared to other materials. Periodically inspect the flashing and surrounding roof area to ensure seals remain intact and no debris has accumulated that might impede water run-off. Check that the flashing remains properly seated and that no gaps have developed between the flashing and roof covering. In areas with heavy salt exposure or pollution, occasional gentle cleaning with water may help maintain appearance.

  • Aluminium resists corrosion naturally
  • Inspect seals and roof junction regularly
  • Clear debris from around the flashing
  • Check for gaps or movement over time
  • Clean gently with water if required

On-site tips and limitations

Measure your roof pitch accurately before ordering to confirm it does not exceed 55°. Store the flashing flat and protected from damage before installation. Work in dry conditions when possible to ensure proper sealing. This is a standard flashing designed for typical pitched roof installations; specialist flashings may be required for unusual roof configurations, valleys, or complex junctions. Always follow VELUX installation guidance specific to the CK06 window and your roof covering type. If your roof pitch exceeds 55° or your installation presents unusual challenges, consult VELUX technical support before proceeding.

  • Confirm roof pitch does not exceed 55°
  • Store flat and protected before installation
  • Install in dry conditions for proper sealing
  • Follow VELUX installation guidance
  • Seek technical advice for non-standard installations
