How and where to use guide

VELUX Standard Flashings 114x118cm EDP SK06 0000

Suitable applications and roof types

This flashing is designed for pitched roof installations where a VELUX SK06 roof window is being fitted or replaced. It works with pitched roofs up to a maximum pitch of 55°, which covers the majority of standard domestic roof slopes. The flashing is compatible with common roof covering materials including clay and concrete tiles, natural slate, and sheet materials such as corrugated metal or fibre cement. It is not suitable for flat roofs or roofs exceeding 55° pitch, which require alternative flashing solutions.

  • Pitched roofs with slopes up to 55°
  • Tile, slate, and sheet material roof coverings
  • SK06 window aperture size (114x118cm)
  • Domestic and light commercial applications

Installation and positioning

The flashing must be installed as an integral part of fitting or replacing an SK06 VELUX roof window. Position the flashing frame around the window aperture before securing the window unit itself. The flashing sits between the roof structure and the roof covering material, creating a continuous weathertight barrier. Ensure the flashing is properly aligned with the roof pitch and that all edges are securely fixed according to VELUX installation instructions. The straightforward design means installation is manageable when used with compatible VELUX windows, though careful attention to alignment and fixing is essential for long-term weather protection.

  • Install flashing before securing the roof window unit
  • Position frame around the window aperture
  • Ensure alignment with roof pitch
  • Secure all edges firmly to prevent water ingress

Weather protection and maintenance

The aluminium construction with lead-free components provides durable weather resistance. The flashing creates a water-resistant barrier that prevents rain and moisture penetrating between the window frame and roof structure. After installation, inspect the flashing periodically, particularly after severe weather, to ensure all seals remain intact and no debris has accumulated around the edges. Keep the flashing clear of moss, leaves, and other debris that could trap moisture. The lead-free aluminium material requires minimal maintenance but should be checked annually as part of routine roof inspection.

  • Inspect seals and edges after severe weather
  • Keep flashing clear of moss, leaves, and debris
  • Check annually during routine roof maintenance
  • Ensure no gaps develop between flashing and roof covering

Limitations and important considerations

This flashing is designed exclusively for SK06 window dimensions and pitched roofs up to 55° pitch. Do not use on flat roofs, roofs exceeding 55° pitch, or with roof windows of different sizes, as this will compromise the weathertight seal. The flashing must be used with compatible VELUX SK06 roof windows to ensure proper integration and performance. Installation should follow VELUX guidance carefully to achieve the intended weather protection and thermal performance. Improper installation or use with incompatible window sizes or roof pitches may result in water ingress and damage to the roof structure.

  • Not suitable for flat roofs or pitches exceeding 55°
  • Must be used with SK06 VELUX windows only
  • Incompatible with other window sizes
  • Follow VELUX installation instructions precisely
