How and where to use guide
VELUX Standard Flashings 55x118cm EDW CK06 0000
Suitable applications and installation locations
This flashing is designed specifically for flat roof and wall installations where Velux rooflights are being fitted. It can be used on buildings up to 4m in height and works with timber structures graded F16 and above. The 1000mm x 200mm profile dimensions make it suitable for standard rooflight installations. Before installation, verify that your roof structure and supporting timbers meet the required F16 grade specification to ensure adequate load-bearing capacity.
- Flat roof installations with Velux rooflights
- Wall-mounted rooflight applications
- Buildings up to 4m installation height
- Timber structures graded F16 or above only
- Both professional and DIY-suitable installations
Installation and fitting procedure
Position the flashing around the perimeter of the Velux rooflight opening, ensuring the PVC profile sits flush against both the rooflight frame and the roof or wall surface. The 1000mm x 200mm dimensions should align with your rooflight size. Secure the flashing firmly to create a continuous watertight seal, paying particular attention to all joints and corners where water ingress is most likely. Ensure the flashing is properly bedded down to eliminate any gaps or voids that could allow water penetration.
- Position flashing around complete rooflight perimeter
- Ensure PVC profile sits flush on all sides
- Secure firmly to create continuous seal
- Pay special attention to corners and joints
- Bed flashing down to eliminate gaps
Material properties and maintenance
The PVC construction provides durable weather resistance and requires minimal maintenance once installed. PVC is resistant to UV degradation and moisture damage, making it suitable for long-term outdoor exposure on roofs and walls. Periodically inspect the flashing to ensure the seal remains intact and that no debris has accumulated around the rooflight perimeter. Clean away any leaves, moss, or dirt that could trap moisture against the flashing or rooflight frame.
- PVC material resists UV and moisture damage
- Minimal maintenance required after installation
- Inspect periodically for seal integrity
- Clear debris and moss from rooflight perimeter
- Check joints and corners for any separation
Limitations and important considerations
This flashing is designed for flat roof and wall installations only and is not suitable for pitched roofs. The 4m height limitation means it is intended for standard domestic and light commercial buildings. The flashing must be installed on timber structures graded F16 or above; installations on lower-grade timber or non-timber substrates may not provide adequate structural support. Always verify rooflight compatibility before ordering, as this flashing is specifically engineered for Velux rooflights.
- Flat roof and wall applications only, not for pitched roofs
- Maximum installation height 4m
- Requires F16 grade timber or above
- Not suitable for non-timber substrates without additional support
- Confirm Velux rooflight compatibility before installation
