How and where to use guide

VELUX Twin and Combination Flashings 78x140cm EKJ MK08 S0021E

Typical applications and installation

Use this flashing when installing two or more VELUX roof windows side by side, or when combining a roof window with a Sun Tunnel system on the same roof slope. The coupled design allows you to mount compatible units vertically adjacent to one another whilst maintaining a single, continuous weather-tight seal. Installation requires removal of roof tiles to the dimensions specified, careful positioning of the flashing to align with your roof pitch and tile profile, and secure fixing before re-tiling. The 90mm recess depth is engineered to work with standard UK roof tile coverings, so ensure your tile profile matches this specification before ordering.

  • Multi-window installations on pitched tile roofs
  • Combining roof windows with Sun Tunnel systems
  • New build and refurbishment projects
  • Roofs with standard tile coverings matching 90mm recess depth

Compatibility and sizing

This flashing is specifically designed for VELUX roof windows and Sun Tunnel systems only. Verify that your chosen windows or accessories are compatible with the EKJ MK08 range before purchase. The 780×1400mm dimensions accommodate coupled installations; measure your intended window positions carefully to ensure the flashing footprint covers both units and the gap between them. If your roof pitch or tile profile differs significantly from standard UK specifications, consult VELUX technical guidance or your supplier.

  • Compatible only with VELUX roof windows and Sun Tunnel systems
  • Check product compatibility before installation
  • Dimensions suit side-by-side window arrangements
  • Verify roof pitch and tile profile match specification

Weather-tightness and maintenance

The recessed profile and coupled design create a weather-tight seal when installed correctly. After installation, inspect the flashing regularly to ensure tiles remain secure around the perimeter and no debris has accumulated in the recess. Clear any moss, leaves or standing water that could compromise the seal. In areas prone to heavy rainfall or snow, pay particular attention to the upper edge of the flashing where water run-off concentrates. The flashing itself requires no routine maintenance beyond keeping the surrounding roof clear.

  • Inspect regularly for loose tiles or debris around the flashing edge
  • Clear moss and leaves from the recessed profile
  • Ensure water drains freely from the upper edge
  • Check for standing water or ice accumulation in winter

On-site tips and limitations

Order this flashing before commencing roof work to avoid delays. Handle carefully to avoid denting the recessed profile, which could compromise the weather seal. Do not attempt to force the flashing to fit non-standard roof pitches or tile profiles; poor fit will lead to water ingress. This product is designed for tile roofing only and is not suitable for slate, metal or other roof coverings. Ensure adequate ventilation around the flashing during installation to prevent condensation issues within the roof void.

  • Order early to avoid project delays
  • Handle carefully to protect the recessed profile
  • Not suitable for slate, metal or non-standard roof coverings
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the installation
