How and where to use guide
VELUX Twin and Combination Flashings 78x98cm EKL MK04 S0122
Suitable applications and roof types
This flashing is designed specifically for pitched roof installations where standard rafter spacing is used. It is suitable for twin window installations (two roof windows positioned side by side) or combination installations (a roof window paired with another compatible roof element). The flashing works with VELUX roof windows in the MK04 size range. Check your roof pitch and rafter spacing before ordering to ensure compatibility with this 78x98cm flashing system.
- Twin roof window installations on pitched roofs
- Combination installations mixing roof windows with other roof elements
- Standard rafter spacing applications
- Domestic pitched roof applications
- Compatible with VELUX MK04 size roof windows only
Installation and positioning
The flashing must be installed as part of the roof window installation process, positioned between the window frame and the roof covering. The aluminium and rubber seal components work together to create a weathertight barrier at the critical roof-window junction. Proper positioning ensures that water running down the roof surface is directed away from the window frames and into the roof guttering or down the roof slope. Installation should be carried out during the initial roof window fitting, before roof tiles or slates are laid over the flashing edges.
- Install flashing before laying roof covering over the edges
- Position flashing to direct water away from window frames
- Ensure rubber seal components are properly seated
- Check that flashing dimensions align with your rafter spacing
- Follow VELUX installation instructions for your specific window models
Maintenance and weather protection
The aluminium and rubber seal components are designed to withstand exposure to weather. Periodically inspect the flashing to ensure the rubber seal remains in good condition and that no gaps have developed between the flashing and roof covering. Clear any debris such as leaves or moss from around the flashing edges to maintain proper water drainage. If water staining or damp appears around the window frames, check that the flashing seal has not been compromised and that roof tiles or slates are properly seated over the flashing edges.
- Inspect rubber seals regularly for signs of deterioration
- Clear debris from flashing edges to maintain water drainage
- Check that roof covering remains properly seated over flashing
- Address any water ingress issues immediately to prevent internal damage
