How and where to use guide

VELUX Twin and Combination Flashings 78x98cm EKL MK04 S0222

Where to use this flashing

This flashing is specifically manufactured for VELUX skylights with dimensions of 78cm × 98cm. It is suitable for installation in rooflights, dormer windows and conservatory applications. The flashing works with timber roof structures graded F16, F24, F32 or F44, making it compatible with most standard UK domestic and commercial timber roof construction. The twin and combination design makes it particularly useful where you need flexibility in positioning the flashing to accommodate varying roof structures or where multiple rooflights are being installed in close proximity.

  • VELUX rooflights sized 78cm × 98cm only
  • Timber grades F16, F24, F32 and F44
  • Dormer windows and conservatory roof installations
  • Pitched roof applications

Installation and positioning

The flashing must be installed before the roof covering is laid. Position the flashing around the skylight opening, ensuring it sits flush against the timber roof structure. The twin and combination design allows you to adjust the flashing position to suit your specific roof pitch and construction detail. The flashing should overlap the roof covering below the skylight and sit beneath the roof covering above it, creating a continuous weatherproof barrier. Ensure all edges are securely fixed and sealed according to VELUX installation instructions to maintain the watertight seal.

  • Install before roof covering is applied
  • Position flashing flush against timber structure
  • Overlap roof covering above and below the skylight
  • Secure all edges firmly to prevent movement
  • Check for gaps or misalignment before sealing

Finish selection and maintenance

The flashing is available in white, grey and brown finishes to match your roof covering and building aesthetic. Choose the finish that best complements your existing roofing material and colour scheme. Once installed, the flashing requires minimal maintenance. Periodically inspect the seal around the skylight, particularly after severe weather, to ensure no water ingress has occurred. Keep the flashing clear of debris and moss growth, especially in areas prone to damp conditions. Do not attempt to adjust or move the flashing once the roof covering has been installed.

  • White, grey and brown finishes available
  • Select finish to match roof covering colour
  • Inspect seal periodically for water ingress
  • Clear debris and moss growth regularly
  • Do not adjust flashing after roof covering installation
