VELUX Twin and Combination Flashings 78x118cm EKL MK06 S0222

Suitable applications and roof pitches

These flashings are engineered specifically for timber frame roof construction and work effectively on pitched roofs between 30 and 60 degrees. They are designed to seal around chimneys, roof vents, and skylights where water ingress is a critical concern. The 78x118cm size makes them suitable for standard residential properties and commercial buildings. They are not suitable for flat roofs or pitches outside the 30-60 degree range.

  • Chimneys and chimney stacks on pitched roofs
  • Roof vents and ventilation penetrations
  • Skylights and roof windows
  • Timber frame construction only
  • Roof pitches 30-60 degrees

Installation and on-site handling

Installation should be carried out during roof construction or retrofit work when the roof structure is accessible. The flashing unit sits around the roof penetration and must be secured to the timber frame with appropriate fixings. Ensure the flashing is positioned to direct water away from the penetration and down the roof slope. The protective coating on the EKL timber should not be damaged during handling or installation, as this coating provides weather resistance. Work should be carried out in dry conditions where possible to ensure proper seating and sealing.

  • Install during roof construction or retrofit access
  • Secure firmly to timber frame with appropriate fixings
  • Position to direct water down the roof slope
  • Protect the weather-resistant coating during handling
  • Avoid installation in wet conditions

Maintenance and durability

The EKL grade timber with protective weather-resistant coating is designed for long-term exposure to the elements. Periodically inspect the flashing and surrounding roof area for any signs of water ingress, particularly after severe weather. Check that fixings remain secure and that no gaps have developed between the flashing and the roof structure. The protective coating should be monitored; if damage occurs, remedial treatment may be required to maintain weather resistance. Regular gutter and roof clearing will help prevent water pooling around the flashing.

  • Inspect regularly for water ingress or damage
  • Check fixings remain secure
  • Monitor protective coating condition
  • Clear gutters and roof debris regularly
  • Address any gaps or movement promptly
