VELUX Twin and Combination Flashings 94x160cm EKL PK10 0021E

Suitable applications and roof types

These flashings are designed for pitched roof installations where VELUX skylights are being fitted. They work on roofs with pitches up to a maximum of 30 degrees. The flashings accommodate FSC timber grades of 32mm or 40mm thickness, which are standard in modern roof construction. They are suitable for both new build installations and retrofit projects where skylight openings are being created in existing pitched roofs.

  • Use on pitched roofs with slopes up to 30 degrees
  • Compatible with FSC timber of 32mm or 40mm thickness
  • Designed for use with VELUX skylight systems
  • Suitable for new build and retrofit installations

Installation and positioning

The flashings must be installed around the perimeter of the skylight opening to create a continuous weather-tight seal. The 94cm width and 160cm length dimensions are designed to accommodate standard VELUX skylight sizes within the specified roof pitch range. Installation should follow VELUX guidance to ensure the flashing sits correctly against the roof slope and the skylight frame, with proper overlap and sealing to prevent water penetration at the junction between the roof covering and the skylight.

  • Position flashings around the complete perimeter of the skylight opening
  • Ensure correct alignment with the roof pitch and skylight frame
  • Maintain proper overlap with roof covering materials
  • Follow VELUX installation instructions for weather-tight sealing

Durability and maintenance

The EKL coating provides durable protection against corrosion and weathering, making these flashings suitable for long-term exposure to the elements. The coating helps maintain the integrity of the flashing over time, reducing the risk of deterioration that could compromise the weather-tight seal. Routine inspection of the flashing and surrounding roof area is recommended to ensure the seal remains effective and to identify any potential issues early.

  • EKL coating resists corrosion and weathering
  • Inspect flashings regularly as part of roof maintenance
  • Check for any gaps or movement in the seal around the skylight
  • Address any damage promptly to maintain weather protection

Limitations and important considerations

These flashings are specifically designed for roof pitches up to 30 degrees and should not be used on steeper slopes. They require compatible FSC timber of the specified thicknesses; using incorrect timber grades or thicknesses may compromise the seal and structural integrity. The flashings must be used as part of a complete VELUX skylight system to ensure all components work together effectively. Installation should be carried out by competent individuals familiar with roof work and building standards requirements.

  • Not suitable for roof pitches exceeding 30 degrees
  • Requires FSC timber of exactly 32mm or 40mm thickness
  • Must be used with compatible VELUX skylight systems
  • Installation should meet current building standards for weather protection
