VELUX Twin and Combination Flashings 55x98cm EKW CK04 S0222

Typical applications

This flashing is designed for pitched roof installations where a secure seal is needed around roof penetrations. Common applications include sealing around chimneys, installing skylights, and integrating roof ventilation systems. The 55 x 98cm size suits standard roof openings and penetrations on residential and light commercial pitched roofs.

  • Chimney flashing on pitched roofs
  • Skylight installation and sealing
  • Roof ventilation system integration
  • General roof opening protection

Installation and on-site tips

Before installation, ensure the roof structure is sound and the timber grades are within the C16 to C32 range. Position the flashing so the weather-resistant PVC membrane overlaps correctly with roof tiles or slates above and below the opening. The metal cladding should be secured firmly to prevent wind uplift. Ensure all edges are sealed properly to maintain the watertight integrity. Work in dry conditions when possible to allow adhesives and sealants to cure correctly.

  • Check timber grades meet C16 to C32 specification before fitting
  • Position flashing to overlap roof covering above and below the opening
  • Secure metal cladding firmly to prevent wind damage
  • Seal all edges thoroughly to maintain watertight protection
  • Install in dry conditions for proper adhesive and sealant curing

Maintenance and durability

The corrosion-resistant metal cladding and PVC membrane are designed for long-term outdoor exposure. Inspect the flashing annually, particularly after severe weather, to ensure the seal remains intact and there are no signs of water ingress around the opening. Clear any debris from around the flashing to prevent water pooling. The weather-resistant properties mean minimal maintenance is required, but prompt attention to any damage will extend the flashing's lifespan.

  • Inspect annually for signs of water ingress or seal failure
  • Clear debris around the flashing to prevent water pooling
  • Check for corrosion or damage after severe weather
  • Address any damage promptly to maintain watertight protection

Limitations and safety

This flashing is designed specifically for pitched roofs and roof openings; it is not suitable for flat roofs or other applications. The timber grade compatibility is limited to C16 to C32, so verify your roof structure meets these requirements before installation. Work at height requires appropriate safety precautions, including fall protection and secure access. Do not attempt installation in high winds or heavy rain, as this compromises both safety and the quality of the seal.

  • Pitched roof application only; not suitable for flat roofs
  • Timber grades must be C16 to C32
  • Use appropriate fall protection when working at height
  • Avoid installation in high winds or heavy rain
