Suitable applications and roof pitches
These flashings are engineered specifically for pitched roof applications in timber frame construction. They perform effectively on roofs pitched between 30° and 45°, which covers most domestic and light commercial pitched roof work. The 78×118cm size is designed to accommodate standard timber frame openings and integration points. Do not use these flashings on roof pitches outside the specified 30–45° range, as water shedding performance cannot be guaranteed on shallower or steeper slopes.

Installation and positioning
Position the flashing to create a continuous weather-resistant seal within your timber frame construction. The flashing must be installed as part of your complete roofing detail, working alongside other VELUX products to ensure full watertightness. Ensure the flashing is correctly oriented to shed water downslope and that all edges are securely fixed to the timber frame. Check that the flashing sits flush and level within the opening, with no gaps or misalignment that could allow water ingress. Always follow the installation sequence specified in your VELUX roofing system documentation.

Material properties and durability
The EKW grade timber and weather-resistant finish provide long-term protection against moisture, rot, and weather degradation in exposed roof conditions. The weather-resistant treatment is integral to the product's performance and durability. Do not sand, plane, or strip the treated surface, as this will compromise the weather-resistant protection. The timber will weather naturally over time; this is normal and does not indicate product failure. Inspect flashings annually, particularly after severe weather, to ensure the weather-resistant finish remains intact and no water ingress has occurred.

On-site handling and storage
Store flashings in a dry, well-ventilated location before installation. Protect from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and standing water during storage. Handle carefully to avoid damage to edges or the weather-resistant finish. Do not stack flashings in a way that traps moisture between components. Once installed, ensure the roof is weathered in promptly to protect the timber frame from water exposure. If flashings are damaged during handling or installation, do not use them; contact your supplier for replacement stock.
