VELUX EDW SK08 2000 SINGLE TILE FLASHING KIT + BDX

Suitable applications and roof types

This flashing kit is designed specifically for pitched tile and slate roofs where a VELUX roof window installation is required. The kit accommodates roof pitches and tile profiles within standard UK ranges and is rated for roof window openings up to 2000mm. It is not suitable for flat roofs, metal roofing, or applications outside the specified pitch and size parameters. Always verify that your roof type and pitch fall within the manufacturer's specifications before ordering.

  • Pitched slate roofs with standard tile profiles
  • Pitched clay and concrete tile roofs
  • Roof window openings up to 2000mm
  • Standard UK roof pitch ranges as per VELUX guidelines

Installation and assembly

Installation of the EDW SK08 2000 requires careful preparation and precise alignment. Begin by removing existing roof tiles around the installation area to create an opening that matches the flashing kit dimensions. Position the flashing frame so that it sits flush with the roof structure, with the upper edge tucked under the tiles above and the lower edge overlapping the tiles below. The integrated BDX connector must be assembled according to VELUX instructions before the roof window is fitted. Ensure all components are properly aligned and secured before re-tiling around the flashing. The weatherproof seal depends entirely on correct installation, so follow the detailed VELUX fitting guidelines provided with the kit.

  • Remove roof tiles carefully to create the installation opening
  • Position flashing frame flush with roof structure
  • Assemble BDX connector according to manufacturer instructions
  • Ensure upper edge is tucked under tiles above and lower edge overlaps tiles below
  • Secure all components before re-tiling

Weatherproofing and maintenance

The flashing kit creates a weatherproof seal that protects the junction between the roof window and roof covering. To maintain this seal, inspect the flashing annually, particularly after severe weather, to ensure no tiles have shifted and no gaps have opened around the frame. Check that water is shedding properly away from the window frame and that no debris has accumulated in the flashing channels. Do not attempt to repair or modify the flashing yourself; contact VELUX or a qualified installer if damage or deterioration is suspected. Proper maintenance of surrounding roof tiles is equally important, as any movement or damage to adjacent tiles can compromise the seal.

  • Inspect flashing annually for gaps or tile movement
  • Check water shedding and clear any debris from channels
  • Do not modify or repair the flashing without professional guidance
  • Maintain surrounding roof tiles to protect the seal

On-site tips and limitations

Before installation, confirm that your VELUX roof window model is compatible with the EDW SK08 2000 kit and that your roof pitch and tile type are within specification. The BDX connector is integral to this kit and cannot be substituted with other connector types. Installation should be carried out in dry conditions to ensure proper sealing and to allow any sealants to cure correctly. This flashing kit is designed for single window installations; do not attempt to adapt it for multiple windows or non-standard applications. If your roof pitch, tile profile, or window size falls outside the specified range, contact VELUX to identify the correct flashing solution for your project.

  • Verify roof window model compatibility before purchase
  • Confirm roof pitch and tile type are within specification
  • Install in dry conditions to ensure proper sealing
  • Do not adapt for multiple windows or non-standard applications
