How and where to use guide

VELUX EDW MK06 0500 Single tile flashing, black, 78x118

Where to use this product

This single tile flashing is specifically designed for pitched tile roof applications where VELUX roof windows are being installed. It is suitable for standard domestic and commercial roof installations with conventional clay or concrete roof tiles. The black finish integrates discreetly with most common roof tile colours. This flashing forms part of the complete VELUX installation system and must be used in conjunction with other flashing components as specified in the VELUX installation instructions for your particular window model and roof configuration.

  • Pitched tile roofs with standard roof pitch angles
  • Domestic and commercial roof window installations
  • Roofs with clay or concrete tiles in standard colours
  • As part of a complete VELUX flashing system

Installation and application

The flashing must be installed during the roof window fitting process, positioned between the window frame and the surrounding roof tiles. It should be fitted in accordance with the detailed VELUX installation instructions specific to your roof window model and roof type. The flashing creates the weathertight seal by bridging the gap between the window frame and the tile surface, directing water away from the window opening and back onto the roof. Correct positioning and secure fixing are essential to prevent water penetration. The installation typically requires careful removal and replacement of roof tiles around the window opening, and the flashing must be integrated with the tile layout to maintain weathertightness.

  • Install during initial roof window fitting, not as a retrofit solution
  • Position flashing between window frame and roof tiles
  • Follow VELUX-specific installation instructions for your window model
  • Ensure flashing is securely fixed and fully integrated with surrounding tiles
  • Verify weathertight seal before completing roof tiling

Limitations and maintenance

This single tile flashing is sized for standard roof pitches and tile configurations; non-standard roof angles or unusual tile layouts may require alternative flashing solutions. The flashing itself requires minimal maintenance once correctly installed, but the surrounding roof tiles and any sealants should be inspected periodically as part of routine roof maintenance. Check that no debris has accumulated around the flashing edges and that the weathertight seal remains intact, particularly after severe weather. Do not attempt to modify or cut the flashing, as this will compromise its weathertight performance.

  • Designed for standard roof pitches only; check compatibility before purchase
  • Not suitable for flat roofs or non-standard roof configurations
  • Inspect periodically to ensure weathertight seal remains intact
  • Clear debris from around flashing edges during routine roof maintenance
  • Do not modify, cut, or alter the flashing
