How and where to use guide

VELUX EDL SK01 2000 Slate flashing,single,pro+ inc BDX 2000,grey,114x70

Suitable applications and roof types

This flashing is engineered for slate roof installations only and must be used with VELUX EDL SK01 2000 skylights. The grey finish integrates seamlessly with both contemporary and period slate roof designs. The 114 x 70mm size accommodates standard skylight positioning on residential and commercial slate-tiled roofs. Do not use this flashing on other roof materials such as tiles, slates of non-standard thickness, or with skylight models other than the EDL SK01 2000.

  • Slate roof applications only
  • Compatible with VELUX EDL SK01 2000 skylights exclusively
  • Suitable for standard skylight aperture positioning
  • Grey colour matches modern and traditional slate finishes

Installation and on-site guidance

The integrated BDX 2000 flashing component simplifies the installation process by combining multiple sealing elements into one assembly. Before installation, ensure the roof opening is cut to the correct dimensions and that surrounding slate tiles are in good condition. The flashing must be positioned to overlap slate tiles above the skylight and sit beneath tiles below, creating a weather-tight seal. Ensure all edges are properly seated and secured according to VELUX installation instructions. Roof pitch and slate tile condition will affect installation difficulty and final weather performance.

  • Check roof opening dimensions match the 114 x 70mm flashing size
  • Inspect surrounding slate tiles for damage or movement before fitting
  • Position flashing to overlap tiles above and sit beneath tiles below
  • Ensure all edges are fully seated and secured as per VELUX guidance
  • Integrated BDX 2000 component reduces number of separate sealing steps

Weather resistance and durability

The Pro+ grade slate flashing is manufactured to withstand prolonged exposure to the elements and provide long-term roof protection. The grey finish is durable and resistant to weathering. However, the flashing's performance depends on correct installation and ongoing maintenance. Inspect the flashing annually, particularly after severe weather, to ensure the seal remains intact and no water is entering around the skylight frame. Clear any debris from the flashing edges and check that slate tiles have not shifted.

  • Pro+ grade material designed for extended weather exposure
  • Grey finish resists fading and weathering
  • Annual inspection recommended to maintain weather-tight seal
  • Clear debris from flashing edges and check tile alignment

Limitations and important considerations

This flashing is designed for standard slate roof applications and may not be suitable for non-standard slate thicknesses, heavily damaged roofs, or roofs with unusual pitch angles. The 114 x 70mm size is fixed and cannot be adjusted. Do not attempt to modify or cut the flashing, as this will compromise the integrated BDX 2000 component and the weather-tight seal. If your roof opening or skylight model differs from the EDL SK01 2000 specification, consult VELUX technical guidance before purchasing.

  • Not suitable for non-standard slate thicknesses or damaged roofs
  • Fixed 114 x 70mm size cannot be adjusted or cut
  • Integrated BDX 2000 component must not be modified
  • Verify roof opening and skylight model compatibility before installation
