How and where to use guide
38 x 138MM (30 x 132mm) FIRE CERTIFIED DOOR LINING SET WITH STOPS AND 15 X 4MM GROOVE 2'6"/2'9"
Typical applications
Fire certified door linings are essential in properties where fire safety regulations demand rated doorsets. Common applications include escape routes, communal areas in flats, plant rooms, and any internal opening where a fire-rated door is specified by Building Control or fire safety standards.
- Multi-storey residential buildings and apartment blocks
- Commercial office buildings and retail premises
- Care homes and healthcare facilities
- Educational buildings and public buildings
- Any opening requiring FD30 or FD60 fire-rated doors
Installation and preparation
Before fitting, ensure the opening is square, plumb and level to within 3mm over the height. The lining should be installed into a prepared masonry or stud opening with appropriate fixings. The 15 x 4mm groove is pre-cut to receive the fire-rated door leaf; do not alter or enlarge this groove as it forms part of the fire seal. Use shims or packers to maintain alignment and secure the lining with appropriate fixings at 600mm centres. Allow for plaster or board finishes on both sides.
- Check opening dimensions match the lining size before delivery
- Ensure opening is square and plumb; tolerance maximum 3mm
- Install lining with stops facing the correct direction for door swing
- Use fire-rated sealant around the perimeter where required by specification
- Do not cut or modify the groove profile
Limitations and compliance
This lining set is certified for fire performance only when used with a matching fire-rated door leaf of the same specification. The fire rating is compromised if the groove is altered, if gaps exceed specified tolerances, or if non-certified doors are fitted. Always verify that the door leaf and lining are from the same certified system. Installation must comply with Building Regulations and any specific fire safety requirements for your building type.
- Must be used with fire-rated door leaves from the same certified system
- Fire rating is void if groove is modified or enlarged
- Gaps and tolerances must be maintained as per fire test specification
- Not suitable for external openings or high-traffic areas without additional protection
- Installation should be carried out by competent persons familiar with fire-rated doorsets
On-site handling and maintenance
Store the lining set flat and protected from weather and site damage before installation. Once fitted, protect the groove and stops from plaster splashes and debris during finishing works. After completion, the lining requires minimal maintenance; keep the groove clear of paint or filler that could compromise door operation. Inspect periodically to ensure the door closes properly and the seal remains intact.
- Store flat in a dry location away from direct sunlight
- Protect the groove from plaster, paint and debris during construction
- Do not force the door leaf into the groove; it should fit smoothly
- Check door operation and seals before handing over the building
- Keep records of the fire certification for future reference and compliance audits
