How and where to use guide
Jeld-Wen 35mm door. Paint Grade Premium, 1981 x 610 mm.
Typical applications and suitability
This door is ideal for internal use in domestic properties, flats, offices, and commercial spaces where cost-effectiveness and flexibility are priorities. The 35 mm thickness provides adequate performance for standard internal swing door applications. It is particularly suited to refurbishment projects where non-standard opening sizes require trimming, and to situations where you prefer to apply your own finish rather than purchase pre-finished doors. The paint grade veneer finish is suitable for locations where appearance is secondary to practicality.
- Internal swing doors in residential and commercial buildings
- Refurbishment and renovation projects with non-standard openings
- Applications where on-site painting or staining is preferred
- Cost-sensitive projects without compromising standard performance
Installation and trimming
The lipped construction on both long edges simplifies installation by providing a positive edge for alignment within the frame and reducing the risk of damage during handling. The door can be trimmed to suit your opening size, making it flexible for non-standard frames. Ensure your frame is square and plumb before installation. The door should be hung using appropriate hinges for internal use, and the frame must be adequately supported to prevent racking.
- Check frame dimensions and ensure square and plumb before fitting
- Use the lipped edges as alignment guides during installation
- Trim long edges if required to fit non-standard openings
- Hang using standard internal door hinges appropriate to door weight
Finishing and maintenance
The door is supplied unfinished with unlacquered veneer faces, requiring on-site decoration. Apply primer and paint or wood stain as appropriate to your specification. Ensure adequate ventilation during finishing work. Once painted or stained, the door requires only routine cleaning and maintenance typical of internal doors. Avoid exposure to excessive moisture or direct water contact, as this is an internal door not suitable for wet areas such as bathrooms without additional protective measures.
- Apply primer before painting to ensure even coverage and durability
- Use quality interior paint or wood stain suitable for veneer surfaces
- Allow adequate drying time between coats
- Keep away from prolonged moisture exposure and wet areas
On-site handling and storage
Store the door flat or upright in a dry, protected environment away from direct sunlight and temperature extremes. Protect the veneer faces from damage during transport and storage. Handle with care to avoid impact damage to edges and faces before finishing. Ensure the door is fully supported during storage to prevent warping or bowing.
- Store in a dry location protected from weather and direct sunlight
- Support adequately to prevent warping or bowing
- Protect veneer faces from impact and abrasion during handling
- Allow the door to acclimatise to site conditions before installation
