WEEDTEX Weed Control Fabric 1m x 15m Roll
What this product is and who it is for
WEEDTEX is a non-woven polypropylene weed suppression membrane. It is permeable, meaning water, air, and nutrients pass through to the soil whilst the fabric itself blocks sunlight from reaching dormant weed seeds. This product suits landscapers, groundworkers, and serious gardeners managing larger areas or commercial sites. It is also appropriate for DIY customers tackling garden renovation or new planting schemes.
- Permeable design allows water and nutrient penetration
- Blocks light to prevent weed seed germination
- Suitable for flower beds, shrub borders, and around trees
- Non-chemical weed control method
Pack contents and coverage
Each roll measures 1 metre wide by 15 metres long, providing a total coverage area of 15 square metres. This single roll format allows flexibility in how you cut and lay the fabric to suit your garden layout. Measure your area carefully before purchase to determine how many rolls you will need.
- Roll dimensions: 1m wide x 15m long
- Total coverage: 15 square metres per roll
- Cut to length as required for your project
Preparation and fixing
Before laying WEEDTEX, clear the area of existing weeds, debris, and large stones. Level the ground as much as possible to ensure good contact between fabric and soil. Unroll the fabric across your prepared bed and overlap edges by at least 150mm where joins are necessary. Secure the fabric using landscape pins, pegs, or by burying the edges under soil or gravel. Cut holes or slits where you need to plant shrubs, trees, or perennials, then fold the fabric back around the plant base.
- Clear and level the ground before laying
- Overlap joins by at least 150mm
- Secure with landscape pins or bury edges
- Cut holes for planting and fold fabric around plant stems
- Top with gravel, bark, or soil to hold in place and conceal
Compatibility and maintenance
WEEDTEX works well under gravel, bark mulch, or soil top dressing, which also helps anchor the fabric and improve appearance. It is compatible with all plant types and can be used around established trees and shrubs as well as new plantings. The fabric will degrade naturally over time when exposed to UV light, so covering it extends its working life. Check edges and joins periodically to ensure they remain secure and that no soil has washed over the fabric surface, which could allow new weeds to establish.
- Top with gravel or mulch to extend lifespan and improve finish
- Compatible with all plant types
- UV exposure will cause gradual degradation
- Inspect joins and edges seasonally
