Typical applications
Thistle MultiFinish is primarily used as a final skim coat on internal walls and ceilings. It performs well over plasterboard surfaces, providing a smooth finish suitable for painting or wallpapering. It can also be applied over existing undercoat plasters to create a fresh, even surface. This product is not suitable for external use or areas subject to high moisture.

Application and thickness
Thistle MultiFinish must be applied at exactly 2mm thickness. This fixed thickness is critical for achieving the correct finish and ensuring proper setting. Apply the plaster evenly across the background using a trowel, working in manageable sections. The material has excellent workability, allowing for smooth application and easy trowelling to a professional standard.

Setting time and working conditions
Thistle MultiFinish sets within 1.5 hours under normal conditions. This relatively quick setting time means you must work efficiently and plan your application accordingly. Avoid applying in extreme temperatures or draughty conditions, as these can affect setting time and finish quality. Once set, the plaster is ready for light sanding and decoration.

On-site tips and limitations
Store bags in a dry location to prevent moisture ingress, which can affect workability. Mix only the quantity you can use within the working time available. Thistle MultiFinish is designed for internal use only and should not be exposed to external weather or high-moisture environments such as bathrooms or kitchens without appropriate protective decoration. Always follow British Gypsum guidance for substrate preparation to ensure optimal adhesion and finish quality.
