How and where to use guide

ST501009-ST Ulti-mate II Professional Woodscrew PoziSquare Double Csk Z & Y 5mm X 100mm - (10g) - 300 Tub

Typical applications

These screws are suited to a wide range of on-site and workshop tasks. Use them for fixing timber framing, joinery assembly, securing plywood and chipboard sheeting, attaching hardwood and softwood components, and fastening sheet metal to timber frames. The 100mm length makes them particularly effective for through-fixing thicker timber sections and composite boards where withdrawal strength is critical. They perform well in both internal and external applications due to their corrosion-resistant coating.

  • Timber-to-timber structural connections and framing
  • Plywood, chipboard, MDF and OSB board fixing
  • Hardwood and softwood joinery work
  • Sheet metal to timber attachment
  • Decking, cladding and external timber work

Driving and installation

The sharp point and prominent thread at the tip allow rapid start and immediate thread engagement, reducing driving time and effort. Use a PoziSquare drive bit (size 2 or 3 depending on screw gauge) with a cordless drill or impact driver. Pre-drilling is recommended in hardwoods and near timber edges to prevent splitting. The double countersunk head sits flush with the timber surface, providing a neat finish suitable for visible work. Ensure the bit is fully seated in the drive recess to avoid cam-out and damage to the screw head.

  • Use correct PoziSquare bit size for secure engagement
  • Pre-drill hardwood and near edges to prevent splitting
  • Drive at controlled speed to avoid overdriving
  • Ensure bit remains fully seated throughout driving
  • Double countersunk head provides flush finish for visible applications

Material compatibility and limitations

These screws are engineered for hardwood, softwood, and man-made boards including MDF, plywood, chipboard and OSB. They also perform effectively in sheet metal applications. However, they are not suitable for use in masonry, concrete or steel-to-steel connections. Avoid using in wet environments without additional protection, and do not use in applications subject to vibration without locking washers or thread-locking compound. The zinc and yellow coating provides good corrosion resistance for general external use but is not rated for severe coastal or chemically aggressive environments.

  • Suitable for timber and man-made boards only
  • Not for masonry, concrete or steel-to-steel fixing
  • Consider locking washers in vibration-prone applications
  • Zinc and yellow coating suitable for standard external exposure
  • Not recommended for severe coastal or aggressive chemical environments

On-site handling and storage

Store screws in a dry location to maintain the integrity of the zinc and yellow coating. Keep the tub sealed when not in use to prevent moisture ingress and corrosion. On site, protect from prolonged exposure to rain and damp conditions. Inspect screws before use for any signs of rust or damage to the coating. The 300-tub format is designed for efficient site use, allowing multiple fastening tasks to be completed on a single battery charge due to the rapid thread engagement of the design.

  • Store in dry conditions with tub sealed
  • Protect from prolonged wet exposure on site
  • Inspect for coating damage before use
  • Efficient tub format reduces tool downtime and battery changes
