How and where to use guide
Siniat Fire Plasterboard 1800mm x 900mm x 12.5mm SE
Typical applications
This fire-rated plasterboard is designed for use in non-loadbearing partition systems, internal wall linings and ceiling systems where fire resistance performance is specified. It is commonly used in commercial offices, apartment blocks, hotels, hospitals and other buildings subject to Building Regulations fire safety requirements. The board works as part of a complete system with compatible metal stud framing and fixings to achieve the stated fire resistance rating.
- Internal stud partition walls requiring fire compartmentalisation
- Wall linings to existing structures where fire upgrade is needed
- Ceiling systems in commercial and multi-residential buildings
- Non-loadbearing applications only
Installation and fixing
Install this plasterboard onto Siniat metal stud framing using the appropriate fixings for your system. The board must be fitted in accordance with the specification that delivers your required fire resistance rating. Ensure studs are spaced correctly as per design documentation and that all joints, fixings and penetrations are sealed appropriately to maintain fire performance. The 12.5mm thickness is suitable for single-layer applications where fire rating permits. Always refer to the relevant Siniat system specification and Building Regulations guidance before commencing work.
- Fix to metal studs at 600mm centres using approved fixings
- Stagger joints between layers where multi-layer systems are required
- Seal all joints, penetrations and service holes with fire-rated sealant
- Ensure proper ventilation during and after installation
Fire performance and limitations
This board is classified as Type DF to EN 520, indicating superior fire resistance. When used in a 15mm single-layer Siniat metal stud non-loadbearing partition system, it delivers 60 minutes fire resistance. Performance depends entirely on correct installation as part of the specified system. This is a non-loadbearing product and must not be used in applications requiring structural support. Fire rating claims are only valid when the complete system specification is followed exactly.
- Achieves 60 minutes fire resistance in specified metal stud partition systems
- Type DF classification to EN 520
- Non-loadbearing applications only
- Performance dependent on complete system specification compliance
On-site handling and storage
Store plasterboard flat on a level, dry surface and protect from weather and moisture. Handle boards carefully to avoid damage to edges and faces, as damage may compromise fire performance. Keep boards in a dry environment on site and avoid stacking excessively. Ensure the work area is adequately ventilated during installation. Allow adequate drying time for any joint compounds or sealants used as part of the installation process before the partition is brought into service.
- Store flat on level ground, protected from rain and damp
- Avoid dropping or damaging board edges and surfaces
- Maintain good site ventilation during installation
- Allow sealants and compounds to cure fully before use
