How and where to use guide

Siniat Moisture Plasterboard 2400mm x 1200mm x 12.5mm TE (60)

Typical applications

Use Siniat Moisture Plasterboard in any internal area where humidity levels are elevated or moisture exposure is likely. This includes bathrooms, en-suites, shower rooms, kitchens, utility rooms, cloakrooms and laundry areas. The board is also suitable for internal walls and ceilings in commercial kitchens, leisure facilities and other moisture-prone commercial spaces. Do not use this board in external applications or where direct water immersion is expected.

  • Bathrooms and shower rooms
  • Kitchens and food preparation areas
  • Utility rooms and laundry areas
  • Internal walls and ceilings only
  • Commercial kitchens and leisure facilities

Installation and fixing

Install Siniat Moisture Plasterboard using standard plasterboard fixing methods. The board measures 2400mm x 1200mm x 12.5mm, making it suitable for stud spacing of 400mm or 600mm centres. Fix to timber or metal studs using galvanised or stainless steel fixings to prevent corrosion in humid environments. Ensure studs are properly spaced and level before fixing. Tape all joints with alkali-resistant joint tape and use moisture-resistant joint compound to seal seams. Leave adequate ventilation gaps around the board to allow air circulation and prevent moisture trapping behind the plasterboard.

  • Use galvanised or stainless steel fixings to resist corrosion
  • Fix at 400mm or 600mm stud centres
  • Ensure studs are level and properly spaced
  • Seal all joints with alkali-resistant tape and moisture-resistant compound
  • Maintain ventilation behind the board

Finishing and protection

After installation, finish Siniat Moisture Plasterboard with appropriate moisture-resistant products. In bathrooms and shower rooms, apply a quality bathroom primer and moisture-resistant paint or tile adhesive. In kitchens, use moisture-resistant paint or tile finishes. Ensure all joints are properly filled and sanded smooth before final decoration. In high-splash areas such as behind sinks or showers, consider tiling over the board using appropriate waterproof adhesive and grout. The moisture resistance of the board works best when combined with proper surface protection and good ventilation.

  • Use moisture-resistant paint or primers
  • Tile high-splash areas with waterproof adhesive and grout
  • Ensure all joints are properly filled and sanded
  • Maintain good ventilation during and after decoration
  • Avoid trapping moisture behind the board

Maintenance and limitations

Siniat Moisture Plasterboard provides protection in humid environments but is not waterproof. Do not expose the board to prolonged water immersion, flooding or direct water spray without additional protection. In areas of high moisture such as shower enclosures, the board should be protected with tiles or waterproof panels. Regular ventilation is essential to prevent condensation buildup. If damage occurs, repair using standard plasterboard repair methods. The board's moisture resistance is maintained only when properly installed, sealed and ventilated.

  • Not suitable for direct water immersion or flooding
  • Requires additional waterproof protection in high-splash areas
  • Maintain good ventilation to prevent condensation
  • Repair damage promptly using standard methods
  • Moisture protection depends on proper installation and finishing
