What this product is for

This plasterboard is used to create internal partition walls, line existing walls, and form ceiling systems in domestic and commercial buildings. The 12.5mm thickness provides a good balance between strength and weight for most internal applications. The tapered edge design is specifically engineered to accept joint tape and compound, or to be skimmed directly with plaster for a seamless finished surface.

Sizing and coverage

Each sheet is 2400mm long by 1200mm wide, covering 2.88 square metres per board. For a typical room, calculate the total wall and ceiling area in square metres and divide by 2.88 to determine the number of sheets required. Always add 10 percent for waste and cutting around openings, corners and service runs. The 2400mm length suits standard ceiling heights from 2.4m to 2.7m with minimal cutting.

Fixing and installation

Plasterboard is fixed to timber studs or ceiling joists using plasterboard nails or drywall screws, spaced at 300mm centres. For ceiling work, use screws rather than nails to prevent sagging. Ensure studs or joists are straight and properly spaced at 400mm or 600mm centres. The tapered edges should be staggered between sheets to avoid four-way joints. After fixing, joints are finished using joint tape and compound in two or three coats, or the entire surface can be skimmed with plaster.

Pre-installation checks

Before installation, ensure the building structure is complete and weathertight. Check that timber studs or joists are straight, properly spaced and structurally sound. Allow plasterboard to acclimatise to site conditions for 24 to 48 hours before fixing. Verify that all service runs (electrical, plumbing, heating) are in place and tested. Ensure adequate ventilation during and after installation to prevent moisture problems. Store boards flat and protect from damp.
