Typical applications
This 12.5mm board is ideal for stud partition walls, dry lining over masonry, and suspended ceiling systems in domestic and light commercial interiors. The standard thickness suits most residential and general commercial applications where moderate fire resistance and sound control are needed. It is commonly used in offices, schools, healthcare facilities and residential buildings.

Installation and finishing
Fix sheets to timber or metal studs using drywall screws or nails at 300mm centres, ensuring boards are fully supported. The tapered edges are designed to receive joint tape and compound for a seamless finish. Apply joint tape over tapered joints, then apply two or three coats of jointing compound, sanding between coats for a smooth surface. Alternatively, the board can be skimmed directly with plaster for a traditional finish. Ensure all fixings are countersunk slightly below the surface to allow compound to cover them.

Handling and storage on site
Store boards flat and horizontally on a level, dry surface to prevent warping and damage. Keep them protected from moisture, direct rain and extreme temperature fluctuations. Handle carefully to avoid edge damage, particularly to the tapered edges which are critical for finishing quality. Ensure adequate ventilation around stored boards to prevent condensation. Transport boards flat and support them properly during movement to avoid bending or breaking.

Limitations and maintenance
This standard Type A board is not suitable for wet areas such as bathrooms or kitchens without additional protection; moisture-resistant boards should be used in these locations. The 12.5mm thickness is not designed for heavy impact resistance and should not be used in areas subject to mechanical damage or abuse. Once installed and finished, maintain by keeping surfaces clean and dry. Avoid excessive moisture exposure which can cause swelling or deterioration of the gypsum core.
