Fixing and buying guide
Rigid PIR Insulation 1200 x 2400 x 150mm
What this product is and who it is for
Ecotherm Rigid PIR is a closed-cell polyisocyanurate insulation board offering excellent thermal performance in a lightweight, easy-to-handle format. It is suitable for builders, contractors and experienced DIY installers working on new build properties, refurbishment projects and retrofit insulation upgrades. The board's compressive strength of 175 kPa makes it appropriate for applications where the insulation will bear load or support structural elements.
Applications and compatibility
This 150mm rigid board is suitable for installation in floors, walls, roofs and cavity applications. The foil-faced board format provides a vapour barrier and helps maintain thermal performance. Ensure compatibility with your building design, structural requirements and building regulation specifications before purchase. The product is BBA-backed, confirming compliance with relevant standards and performance claims.
- Floor insulation in new build and refurbishment
- Cavity wall insulation in appropriate wall constructions
- Roof and loft insulation applications
- Retrofit insulation projects requiring high thermal performance
Sizing and pack contents
Each board measures 1200 x 2400 x 150mm. Calculate the total area you need to cover and divide by the board area (2.88 square metres per board) to determine quantity required. Account for cutting, waste and edge details when ordering. Boards are supplied as individual rigid panels ready for installation.
Pre-installation checks and preparation
Before fixing, inspect boards for damage and ensure the substrate is clean, dry, level and structurally sound. Confirm that the installation method (adhesive, mechanical fixings or cavity placement) is appropriate for your application and building design. Check that the foil facing is intact and positioned correctly to function as a vapour barrier. Ensure adequate ventilation and moisture management in the overall building assembly, particularly in roof and wall applications.
- Verify substrate is clean, dry and structurally adequate
- Check board dimensions and thermal thickness meet specification requirements
- Confirm fixing method is suitable for your application
- Inspect foil facing for damage before installation
