How and where to use guide

Ecotherm Rigid PIR Insulation 1200 x 2400 x 150mm

Typical applications and installation

This board is suitable for use in floor insulation (including suspended timber floors and concrete ground floors where compressive strength is required), cavity wall insulation, roof insulation (pitched and flat), and wall insulation in refurbishment projects. The 1200 x 2400mm format allows efficient coverage with minimal waste. Install boards tightly butted together to minimise thermal bridging. For floor applications, ensure the board is supported adequately across its full area. In wall and roof applications, secure boards using appropriate mechanical fixings or adhesive suitable for PIR insulation. The foil facing provides a vapour barrier; ensure this is positioned correctly according to your building design and local Building Regulations requirements.

  • Floor insulation: suitable for suspended timber floors and ground floors with adequate support
  • Wall insulation: cavity fill and external wall insulation in refurbishment projects
  • Roof insulation: pitched and flat roof applications
  • Cavity insulation: use in new build cavity wall construction

Handling and site storage

The lightweight rigid board format makes handling straightforward on site. Store boards flat and dry, protected from weather and direct sunlight. Avoid stacking excessively; support boards adequately to prevent sagging or damage. Keep the foil facing intact during storage and installation to maintain vapour control performance. Handle with care to avoid puncturing or crushing the board, which could compromise thermal and structural performance.

  • Store flat and dry, protected from weather
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight
  • Keep foil facing intact throughout handling and installation
  • Do not stack excessively or allow boards to sag

Performance and limitations

The thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/mK ensures consistent thermal performance across the board. Compressive strength of 175 kPa makes this board suitable for floor applications and structural load-bearing scenarios within its design limits. However, this product is not suitable for external exposure without protective cladding or weatherproofing. The foil facing is not a complete air barrier and must be supplemented with appropriate membranes or tapes at joints and penetrations to achieve full air-tightness. Do not use in applications subject to continuous moisture exposure or immersion.

  • Thermal conductivity 0.022 W/mK provides consistent performance
  • Compressive strength 175 kPa suitable for floor and structural applications
  • Not suitable for external exposure without protective cladding
  • Foil facing requires taping at joints for air-tightness
  • Avoid continuous moisture exposure or immersion

Compliance and specification assurance

This product carries BBA-backed product assurance, providing confidence in performance and compliance for specification-led projects. The board meets thermal and structural performance requirements for new build, refurbishment and retrofit applications. Ensure installation complies with current Building Regulations and relevant British Standards for insulation and thermal performance. Consult the product datasheet and installation guidance for specific compliance requirements in your project.

  • BBA-backed product assurance for specification confidence
  • Suitable for Building Regulations compliance in new build and refurbishment
  • Refer to product datasheet for specific performance data
  • Confirm installation method meets local Building Regulations requirements
