How and where to use guide
Chamfered and Rounded Primed Moisture Resistant MDF Profile 5.49 Mtr 18mm x 70mm
Typical applications
This profile is well suited to timber framing projects, furniture construction, and decorative woodworking where a finished edge is required. The chamfered and rounded profile works effectively as a trim component, edge banding, or structural element in composite assemblies. It can be used alongside timber, MDF, and other composite materials in mixed-material projects.
- Timber frame construction and assembly
- Furniture making and cabinet work
- Decorative trim and edge finishing
- Joinery and structural applications
- Mixed-material composite projects
Cutting and assembly
This profile cuts easily with standard woodworking tools including circular saws, mitre saws, and hand saws. Measure and mark your cut lines clearly before cutting. The chamfered edges are pre-finished, so avoid cutting through finished edges where possible to maintain the smooth profile appearance. Use standard wood screws, dowels, or adhesives suitable for MDF when assembling. Ensure all cut edges are sealed or primed if the profile will be exposed to moisture.
- Cut with standard woodworking saws and power tools
- Pre-finished chamfered edges should be protected during cutting
- Seal cut edges with primer or sealant in moisture-prone areas
- Use MDF-compatible adhesives and fasteners for assembly
Moisture resistance and maintenance
The moisture resistant finish provides protection in internal environments and areas with moderate humidity. The primed surface is ready for painting or staining. In high-moisture areas such as kitchens or bathrooms, ensure adequate ventilation and avoid prolonged water exposure. Inspect regularly for signs of moisture ingress, particularly at cut edges and joints. The FSC certified material meets responsible sourcing standards.
- Suitable for internal applications with standard humidity levels
- Primed finish ready for paint or stain
- Protect cut edges with sealant in moisture-sensitive locations
- Maintain good ventilation in kitchens and bathrooms
- FSC certified sustainable material
On-site handling and storage
Store the profile flat or vertically in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct moisture and extreme temperature fluctuations. Avoid stacking heavy materials on top of the profile to prevent warping. Handle carefully to protect the primed finish and chamfered edges from damage during transport and storage. Allow the material to acclimatise to the workshop environment for 24 to 48 hours before use in precision joinery work.
- Store in dry, well-ventilated conditions
- Protect from direct moisture and temperature extremes
- Handle carefully to avoid damage to primed finish
- Allow acclimatisation time before precision assembly work
