Standard Ogee Primed Moisture Resistant MDF Profile 5.49 Mtr 18mm x 169mm

What this product is and who it is for

This is a profiled MDF moulding with an ogee design, suitable for both trade professionals and serious DIY customers. It works well for creating decorative edges on shelving units, cabinet facings, furniture trim, and architectural detailing. The moisture-resistant coating makes it particularly valuable for wet areas where standard MDF would swell or deteriorate. The primed finish means you can paint or stain it directly without extensive surface preparation.

Sizing and pack contents

Each length is 5.49 metres, 18mm thick, and 169mm wide. You receive one continuous length per order. Measure your project requirements carefully and account for waste when cutting. The ogee profile runs the full length, so plan cuts to avoid disrupting the design where visible.

  • Single 5.49m length per pack
  • 18mm thickness suitable for load-bearing applications
  • 169mm width provides substantial profile depth
  • Moisture-resistant coating applied to all surfaces

Compatibility and preparation

This profile is compatible with standard woodworking tools and fixings. Before installation, check that your support structure can accommodate the 18mm thickness and 169mm projection. The primed surface requires no sanding or sealing before painting, though you may wish to fill any cut ends with wood filler. Ensure the installation surface is clean, dry, and level. In damp areas, allow the moisture-resistant coating to cure fully before exposure to water.

  • Works with standard wood screws, nails, and adhesives
  • Primed surface ready for paint or stain
  • Cut ends should be sealed with wood filler for best results
  • Suitable for interior use in moisture-prone areas

Pre-installation checks

Inspect the length for any damage or warping before fixing. Check that your wall or substrate is sound and level, particularly important for shelving applications. Confirm that fixings will reach solid timber or appropriate wall anchors. In bathrooms and kitchens, ensure adequate ventilation to prevent moisture accumulation. Plan your cuts and layout before beginning work to minimise waste and ensure the ogee profile is positioned correctly for visual impact.
