Standard Ogee Primed Moisture Resistant MDF Profile 5.49 Mtr 18mm x 58mm

What this product is and who it is for

This is a decorative moulding profile manufactured from moisture-resistant MDF. It is suitable for both trade professionals and serious DIY customers undertaking interior joinery projects. The ogee profile is commonly used to finish shelf edges, frame display cabinets, create dado rails, or add decorative detail to timber panelling. The moisture-resistant core makes it appropriate for use in kitchens, bathrooms and utility areas where standard MDF would be unsuitable.

Sizing and pack contents

Each item is supplied as a single length of 5.49 metres. The profile measures 58mm wide across the face and 18mm thick. This length is sufficient for most shelving projects or can be cut to suit individual requirements. You will receive one continuous length; it is not pre-cut into shorter sections.

  • Length: 5.49 metres per length
  • Face width: 58mm
  • Thickness: 18mm
  • Profile: Standard Ogee
  • Material: Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Finish: Factory primed

Compatibility and preparation

This moulding is designed to be fixed to timber framing, shelf edges or cabinet carcassing using wood adhesive, panel pins or screws. The factory-applied primer provides a ready-to-paint surface; no sanding or priming is required before decoration. Ensure the substrate is clean, dry and flat before fixing. The moisture-resistant core means this profile can be used in damp environments, but the timber it is fixed to should also be suitable for such conditions.

Pre-installation checks

Before fixing, inspect the length for any damage or warping. Store the moulding flat in a dry environment for at least 48 hours before installation to allow it to acclimatise. Ensure your substrate is level and secure; any movement in the base timber will cause the moulding to crack or separate. Plan your layout and mark fixing positions at 300-400mm intervals. Check that your chosen adhesive and fasteners are compatible with both MDF and your substrate material.

  • Check for damage or warping upon delivery
  • Allow 48 hours acclimatisation in dry conditions
  • Ensure substrate is level, clean and secure
  • Plan fixing positions at 300-400mm centres
  • Confirm adhesive and fastener compatibility
