Pre-installation checks and preparation

Before fixing, inspect the length for any damage or warping. Store the moulding flat in a dry environment for at least 48 hours before installation to allow it to acclimatise to site conditions. Check that your fixing method (adhesive, nails, or screws) is appropriate for MDF and that you have suitable primer or paint for any cut edges. Ensure the surface you are fixing to is clean, dry, and level.

Fixing and finishing

The primed coating provides a smooth base for painting or staining.
