Ovolo Primed Moisture Resistant MDF Profile 5.49 Mtr 18mm x 58mm

What this product is and who it is for

This is a decorative MDF moulding profile with an ovolo (rounded) edge design. It is suitable for builders, joiners, furniture makers, and experienced DIY customers who need to finish edges, create trim details, or add decorative elements to interior projects. The moisture-resistant treatment provides added durability compared to standard MDF, making it appropriate for kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas with moderate moisture exposure.

Sizing and pack contents

Each length measures 5.49 metres long, 58mm wide, and 18mm thick. This single length provides substantial material for most shelving projects, furniture edging, or wall trim applications. Check your project requirements carefully to determine whether one length is sufficient or if multiple lengths are needed.

  • Length: 5.49 metres per length
  • Width: 58mm
  • Thickness: 18mm
  • Profile: Ovolo (rounded edge)
  • Treatment: Primed and moisture-resistant

Compatibility and finishing options

The primed surface is ready to accept a range of finishes. You can paint directly over the primer, apply varnish for a natural wood appearance, or use laminate veneers if desired. The moisture-resistant core makes this profile more stable than standard MDF in areas prone to humidity or temperature fluctuations.

  • Compatible with paint, varnish, and laminate finishes
  • Primed surface requires no additional sealing before finishing
  • Moisture-resistant treatment suitable for kitchens and bathrooms
  • Ovolo profile works well as shelf edging, furniture trim, or wall panelling

Pre-installation checks and preparation

Before fixing, inspect the length for any damage or warping. Measure and mark your fixing points carefully, accounting for the 58mm width and 18mm thickness when planning layouts. Ensure the surface you are fixing to is clean, dry, and level. Allow the profile to acclimatise to the room environment for 24 hours before installation if it has been stored in a significantly different temperature or humidity. Use appropriate fixings for your substrate—adhesive, screws, or nails depending on whether you are attaching to timber, plasterboard, or other materials.
