Fixing and buying guide

Hardwood Plywood 2440 x 1220 x 18mm B/BB Premium Streply EN314-2 CI2 & EN636-2S, E1 Class 2 also known as WBP

What this product is and who it is for

This is a structural hardwood plywood sheet with a dense Eucalyptus core and high-grade B/BB face veneer. It is engineered for professional and experienced DIY users undertaking cabinetry, furniture making, internal sheathing, flooring, and general construction projects. The B/BB grading means one face is of superior finish quality whilst the reverse is sound but may show minor defects. It is not suitable for applications requiring both faces to be visually perfect.

  • Structural-grade certified to EN 12871 for load-bearing applications
  • High-grade face veneer suitable for visible cabinetry and joinery
  • Eucalyptus core provides superior dimensional stability
  • Responsibly sourced from well-managed forests

Moisture resistance and use class

This plywood conforms to EN 636-2 and EN 314-2 CI2 standards, delivering high resistance to humidity. It is classified for Use Class 2, meaning it is suitable for humid interior environments and protected external locations where it will not be exposed to direct weather or standing water. If used externally, all cut edges and surfaces must be sealed with appropriate exterior-grade sealant or paint to maintain moisture protection.

  • Suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and other humid interiors without additional treatment
  • Can be used in protected external applications such as covered soffits or fascias if sealed
  • Not suitable for fully exposed external use or wet environments without comprehensive sealing
  • E1 Class 2 formaldehyde emission rating ensures low off-gassing

Sizing, weight, and handling

Each sheet is 2440mm long by 1220mm wide by 18mm thick, weighing 34.83kg. This is a full-size European standard sheet. At this weight and size, mechanical handling equipment or a second person is strongly recommended for safe movement and installation. Ensure adequate workspace and support during cutting and fitting to prevent damage to the veneer surface.

  • Standard sheet size: 2440 x 1220mm
  • Thickness: 18mm (suitable for cabinetry, shelving, and structural applications)
  • Weight: approximately 34.83kg per sheet
  • Square-edged for clean joinery and edge banding

Pre-installation checks and preparation

Before fixing, inspect the sheet for any visible damage to the veneer face and check that moisture content is stable in your workshop environment. Allow the plywood to acclimatise for 48 hours in the space where it will be installed, particularly in humid or temperature-variable locations. Ensure all cutting tools are sharp to minimise tear-out on the face veneer. If the sheet will be exposed to moisture or external conditions, plan sealing and edge protection before installation.

  • Acclimatise the sheet in situ for 48 hours before cutting and installation
  • Use sharp blades and fine-toothed saws to minimise veneer tear-out
  • Seal all cut edges with appropriate sealant if the sheet will be exposed to moisture
  • Support the sheet fully during cutting and fitting to prevent sagging and veneer damage
