Fixing and buying guide
3.0Mtr X 47 X 175mm C24 Treated Regularised KD Carcassing Timber
Specification and grading
This timber is strength-graded to C24 standard, indicating superior load-bearing capacity and reliability compared to lower grades such as C16. The 47 × 175 mm cross-section provides substantial structural capability for joists, stud walls, and framing applications. Regularised finish means the timber has been planed to consistent dimensions, improving handling and fit. Kiln-dried (KD) status confirms moisture content has been controlled to reduce movement and warping in service.
- C24 strength grade suitable for structural and load-bearing work
- Pressure-treated with preservative for durability in exposed conditions
- Regularised planed finish for ease of installation
- Kiln-dried to minimise moisture-related movement
- Meets BS EN standards for structural timberwork
Quantity and ordering
This product is supplied as individual 3.0 metre lengths. Calculate your requirements based on joist spacing, stud centres, or frame design. For larger projects, order multiple lengths to avoid unnecessary joints. Check your building design or structural engineer's specification for exact sizing and spacing requirements before purchasing.
- Single length: 3.0 metres
- Cross-section: 47 × 175 mm
- Order multiples as required for your project
- Confirm spacing and layout requirements with your design or engineer
Storage and handling
Store timber in a dry, well-ventilated location away from ground contact. Although treated, the timber should be protected from prolonged exposure to standing water or ground moisture. Stack lengths horizontally with spacers between layers to allow air circulation. Handle carefully to avoid damage to the planed surface and preservative coating.
- Store in dry, ventilated conditions
- Keep off the ground using bearers or spacers
- Protect from prolonged wet exposure
- Stack with air gaps to prevent moisture trapping
- Handle to avoid damage to treated surface
Cutting and on-site treatment
Cut timber to length as required using standard hand or power saws. Where cuts are made, exposed wood surfaces are no longer protected by the factory treatment. For outdoor applications or areas subject to moisture, apply a suitable timber preservative or end-grain sealer to freshly cut ends to maintain protection against decay and insect ingress.
- Cut to length using standard saws
- Treat freshly cut ends with preservative or sealer for outdoor use
- Ensure adequate ventilation when cutting indoors
- Dispose of offcuts responsibly
